The PlayStation Showcase revealed a first look at the adorable-looking island adventure game Tchia. From New Caledonian developer Awaceb, Tchia follows a young island adventurer with the unique ability to transfer her consciousness into animals around the island. Tchia is scheduled to release in 2022 for PS4, PS5, and PC.
In the first look at Tchia, the main character shows off their ability to shift between animals including birds, dogs, crabs, and turtles. It seems like there will be much to do in Tchia, as the trailer shows gameplay of playing guitar, exploring islands, avoiding danger, and using tools to discover new secrets.

The official Tchia website details the many activities to do around the islands, which include playing as over 30 animals and hundreds of objects, unlocking melodies for the Ukelele, interacting with diverse characters and storylines, and sailing around the archipelago. The main character's outfits and her boat can be customized with hundreds of cosmetics.
The gameplay looks pretty exciting, but one of the most enticing and unique aspects of the game is that it is inspired by New Caledonia. The characters in the game are voiced by local talent in the traditional languages native to New Caledonia. New Caledonia is a collection of islands in the Pacific highlighted by a huge barrier reef that surrounds the main island. Throughout the trailer, New Caledonian culture shines with music, folklore, and traditions. More information about the title is expected to be announced as the release date draws closer.
