The free-to-play game, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt, is a divergent take on the Battle Royale genre. You can play as different vampire characters who possess various supernatural powers and skills.
Battle Royale match sessions in Bloodhunt support up to 45 players. The playlist includes two game modes which include solo and squad mode. In the squad BR mode, you play in a team of three players.
The maximum number of players in BloodHunt may seem low to some players. Other popular Battle Royale games such as Call of Duty: Warzone and Apex Legends feature 150 and 60 players respectively. However, there is a solid reason behind the comparatively small player count seen in Blood Hunt.
After selecting the desired location, players are spawned into a map inspired by Prague. The map size is very small compared to Verdansk of Warzone, or even smaller World's Edge of Apex Legends. The small map size alongside the fast collapsing safe zone justifies the small player numbers in Bloodhunt.
As such, the game session doesn't feel dull most of the time because you will take part in a significant number of combats. But you may experience yourself traversing long distances without finding a single enemy at times.
There are a few things you can do in order to keep yourself busy if you're not encountering any enemy:
- There are groups of mercenaries, called The Entity, present across the map (marked with a red cross symbol). You can engage these NPC characters to get better loot. But don't take them lightly, as they are capable of doing considerable amount of damage and are hard to kill.
- You can shoot a civilian to reveal yourself to every player on the map. This method is perilous and I only recommend doing this if you're confident. Expect every player in the vicinity to attack you after this.
