How to beat the Vexing Cave dragon in Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon

This is nothing a little preparation can't help you with.

After you've beaten the game once, a new area called Vexing Cave opens up to the east of the Mausoleum. You can access it when you reload your pre-final boss save file or start a new game plus.

In the Vexing Cave, you find the lingering feelings of the dragon Sherwyn killed in the Volcano. This is the game's optional boss: The Dragon's Malice. He's tough to beat, but it's completely doable with some preparation. Here's what you need to do.

How to beat The Dragon's Malice in Voice of Cards

1. Equip Freezestay Rings

The Dragon's Malice has a freeze attack that RNG tends to favor a lot. It will almost always hit, so equip your team with Freezestay Rings to keep them safe.

2. Include at least one DEF buffer in the team

The Dragon's Malice has a ton of AoE attacks and deadly single target ones. Make sure you have either the hero or Bruno in your team and never end your turn with no DEF buffs.

3. Include one multi-target healer in the team

The enemy will still deal roughly 20+ DMG even during his less powerful AoE attacks, even with DEF buffs. Make sure Ridis or Bruno is on your team.

4. Stock up on Supreme Salves or bring the hero with you

Party-wide heals are not enough to cover the DMG dealt during the Dragon Malice's single-hit attacks, so you're going to need big solo heals. The hero's Heal+ should do the trick.

However, the enemy makes more AoE attacks than single-target ones. So, if you don't want to include him on your roster, you can also bring a ton of Supreme Salves with you. The occasional wandering Ivory Order cleric on the third floor of the Mausoleum will sell them.

5. Include Melanie

Melanie has a skill called Charge Spell, which generates two gems. Multi-heals and party-wide buffs need two to three crystals each, which Melanie can constantly provide.

6. Equip Legendary weapons and armors

This one is optional, but do equip the legendary weapons and armors of the three characters you plan to use if you find them. You're going to need all the stat boosts you can get.

After that, you should be all set! Just remember to take the battle slowly, keep your team's DEF buffs up, and their HPs above 25. Take advantage of any attack boost Happenstance cards to deal damage efficiently.

You receive the Mar Avatar piece when you beat him. The Dragon's Malice enemy card also gets added to your collection.
