How to get Gyroid Fragments in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Bring your shovel.

As of the 2.0 free update, Gyroids are a part of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. To get them, however, you will need to plant Gyroid Fragments. Getting Gyroid Fragments isn’t that difficult, although players will only get one per in-game day. Here is how to get Gyroid Fragments in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Going on Boat Tours

If your island has at least three stars, you can go on once-a-day Boat Tours. Talk to Kapp’n the sailor Kappa, and he will take you on tour for 1,000 Nook Miles.

While there are some similarities between Boat Tours and the standard Nook Miles Ticket trips, one of the major differences is that every mystery island you visit on a Boat Tour will have one Gyroid Fragment somewhere on it. It will be buried in the ground, so you will need a shovel to acquire it. Find a crack in the ground to know where to dig, just like with Fossils.

While generally, you will dig the Gyroid Fragment up. The one exception to this is when you first find Brewster. Brewster will give you a Gyroid Fragment when you talk to him. This is a one-time thing, as after you talk to him, you will only find him in his café going forward.

The only other way to get Gyroid Fragments is to get them from other players who already have them and are willing to trade or gift them to you.
