Kirby and the Forgotten Lands is the next installment of the Kirby series and is taking things into 3D this adventure. It will release on March 25, 2022, for the Nintendo Switch. As this date gets closer, fans will be speculating about the game, such as if it is open-world.
There is no official answer as to if it is open-world or not. However, if you look at the new trailer for the game, there appears to be a map or level-based selection screen that Kirby travels to using a warp star. This happens around the 53-second mark in the trailer below!

If this is true, it would likely mean that Kirby will have a level and world system similar to Super Mario 3D World. Players could travel on the world map in that game and select which level to play. Once in that level, players could freely roam the 3D world.
Many games are getting the open-world treatment, including Nintendo games. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is one of the most popular games for the Nintendo Switch. Perhaps Kirby and the Forgotten Lands will be open-world and receive the same acclaim. Only time will tell!
