The game Harry Potter Fans have been waiting for has finally come in the form of Hogwarts Legacy. Fans will finally get the chance to be a young Wizard in training at Hogwarts. However, the game is much more than just a classroom simulator. Here are five reasons why Hogwarts Legacy might be a Game of the Year Contender.
Classified as an action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy not only drops players into their fifth year at Hogwarts but also right in the middle of a conflict with a Dark Wizard known as Victor Rookwood. You'll be attending your classes and learning spells that you can use against foes in the lands surrounding Hogwarts. Below are five Reasons why Hogwarts Legacy might snag Game of the Year.
The Massive Scale
Scale is about more than just a game that takes dozens of hours to complete; it's about how much there is to do in a game, whether it be required or optional. Hogwarts Legacy is humongous in scale. The Wizarding World is a deep and rich one, providing plenty of experiences both in the classroom at Hogwarts and out in the surrounding areas. You can discover long-lost secrets inside the castle, or you can excel in herbology and put your knowledge to use in battle.
The Complex Gameplay
The Wizarding World's wand combat is detailed and complex. Players can learn different spells that they can chain together to create a combo. They can also harness the power of spells that the Professors at Hogwarts don't even understand and wield them against their foes. However, your wand is only part of what you have at your disposal as a Wizard. You can also utilize enhancing potions and magical plants that will fight by your side. This creates a complex Gameplay system that will feel different for each and every player.
The Ultimate Role-Play
For twenty years, every young person has wanted two things in life: a real Lightsaber, and to attend Hogwarts. While neither of those things can actually happen, Hogwarts Legacy has given us the perfect alternative to the latter and allowed us to escape and get lost within Avalanche Software's digital representation of Hogwarts. Though you won't be able to use a wand in real life, it's possible this experience will be even more fun than perfecting your Patronus over weeks. You can brew potions, learn charms and spells, and plant magical plants—all while attending classes as a student at Hogwarts.
The Unique Environment Design
The Wizarding World provides some of the most unique environments ever created due to its magical capacity. Hogwarts Legacy takes full advantage of the environment, capturing its aesthetic and personality. The magical hallways of Hogwarts and the thick underbrush of the Forbidden Forest help the game's environments feel like more than just a background to the game you are playing, they feel like another character within the game. Also, we'll get to see brand-new environments, such as the Hufflepuff Common Room.

The Endless Variety
Hogwarts Legacy, while giving you a single-player narrative experience, is also providing so much variety. You can choose what aspect of Magic you would like to excel in, such as Herbology, Charms, or Beasts. Leveling up different Skill Trees will allow you to diversify your magical toolbag and bring you more choice when it comes to combat, potion-making, and more. Puzzles, Secrets, Class, and Duels—the game throws so many different experiences at you there is never the threat of feeling bored.
Only time will tell how deep this game goes and how Game-of-the-Year worthy it may turn out to be, but it shows a lot of promise.
