All Playstation Plus Membership Plans and Prices, explained

Is it worth all that money?

The Membership plans and Prices of PlayStation Plus can be hard to decipher. All three PlayStation Plus versions offer the regular benefits players are accustomed to. You can play multiplayer online with your friends, collect free games monthly, get extra deals from PlayStation Store, access cloud storage, and receive everything else Plus members normally get.

What comes with PlayStation Plus Essential?

PlayStation Plus Essential is the bare minimum of everything players will get. If you don't need the PlayStation Plus catalog or the extra features shown below, then you should get Essential. If you get Essential, you can play games online, and you still get all of the basic features shown below:

  • Cost: $59.99 yearly
  • Cloud Storage
  • Monthly free games
  • Online Multiplayer
  • Exclusive Discounts
  • PlayStation Plus Collection
  • Share Play
  • Game Help

What comes with PlayStation Plus Extra?

There is one extra feature in PlayStation Plus Extra. It is basically PlayStation Plus mixed with PlayStation Now. If you didn't have PlayStation Now before or weren't interested in this service, don't get it. You are really just paying for two services, so the price goes up about as much as PlayStation Now used to cost.

There is one positive to this—namely that the game catalog is larger. Otherwise, note that the following list only includes the game catalog. Additionally, the Classic PlayStation games are not included in this game catalog, which was half of PlayStation Now.

  • Cost: $99.99 yearly
  • Cloud Storage
  • Monthly free games
  • Online Multiplayer
  • Exclusive Discounts
  • PlayStation Plus Collection
  • Share Play
  • Game Help
  • Free game catalog

What comes with PlayStation Plus Premium - $119.99

If you pay the full PlayStation Plus Premium, you'll get access to some extra features, such as streaming and game trials. Subscribers can access the classic game catalog that used to be included in PlayStation Now but is now exclusive to PlayStation Plus Premium.

  • Cost: $119.99 yearly
  • Cloud Storage
  • Monthly free games
  • Online Multiplayer
  • Exclusive Discounts
  • PlayStation Plus Collection
  • Share Play
  • Game Help
  • Free game catalog
  • PlayStation Classic catalog
  • Cloud Streaming
  • Game Trials

Is PlayStation Plus Extra or PlayStation Plus Premium worth it?

Not really. As the game catalog is separate from PlayStation Now, you'd need to pay twice as much for a good version of it. Also, game trials may not be worth the extra money for most, and cloud streaming doesn't always work as well as it should. We recommend you stick with the Essentials unless you really need all the features.
