Our Best Hearthstone Ashes of Outland Decks post features the absolute top lists in the meta! We'll be updating this post with more and more decks as powerful options reveal themselves in the coming weeks.
Ashes of Outland is here and there's not a better time to jump back into the game of Hearthstone! Why is that? Well, with the Standard rotation happening, the game's meta will be shifting quite a bit. There's going to be a lot of new decks being played, and the power of certain classes will be fluctuating quite a bit. Not only that, Blizzard decided it was finally time to add a tenth class to the game! You can get quite a few of this new class' cards for free, by just playing through a bit of PVE content. So, if you were considering jumping back into Hearthstone, now is one of the best times to do so!
Updates
- 4/23/20 - 11:30am PT: All decks have been refreshed for the recent balance update!
- 4/13/20 - 9:30am PT: Refreshed all of the deck lists on the list and updated some of the descriptions!
- 4/10/20 - 8am PT: Added both Face Hunter and Pirate Warrior to the list. Warlock and Demon Hunter are the most popular classes right now.
- 4/9/20 - 9:30am PT: Updated all the classes with some new decks! The meta is starting to get a bit healthier after the nerfs, but expect to see a lot of Demon Hunters out there still!
- 4/8/20 - 8pm PT: Nerf patch for Demon Hunter has gone live! Details can be found in the Demon Hunter Decks section.
- 4/8/20 - 3pm PT: Hold tight everyone! Blizzard is looking to nerf some of the cards for the Demon Hunter class very soon, so hopefully the power level on their decks comes down to a more tolerable level.
- 4/8/20 - 8:45am PT: Updated all of the classes with their best performing decks and added little blurbs about how the classes are doing. Demon Hunter is polarizing the meta right now, and will likely be nerfed very quickly. I wouldn't go dusting any cards from other classes because we don't know for sure what will be strongest until DH is taken down a peg!
- 4/7/20 - 7:30pm PT: Added Galakrond Highlander Rogue, Highlander Mage, & Galakrond Warlock. Swapped out some of the theorycraft decks for played options. A lot of classes have yet to be explored much, as it appears Demon Hunter is seeing most of the play.
- 4/7/20 - 3pm PT: Added Zalae's OTK Demon Hunter list.
- 4/7/20 - 2pm PT: Added Muzzy's #1 Legend Aggro Demon Hunter, Brian Kibler's Spells Mage, and Dog's Warlock Zoo!
Decks will be filtering in and out of this list as we learn what is working and what isn't. Early on in the expansion, these decks will be very raw and it will take at least a couple of weeks before things are refined and the meta settles in. Always craft cards with extreme caution in the early parts of an expansion.
Best Ashes of Outland Decks
We're featuring some of the best pro decks, and along with those we have some deck guides for you to better learn how to pilot some of these new lists.
Demon Hunter Decks
The new class on the block is coming in hot with quite a few different options that appear to be available for it. While it appears to be more of an aggressive class, it also has quite a few control tools that could make it a pretty versatile class. Blizzard is going to want Demon Hunter to shine coming out of the gate, so don't be surprised to see their decks be pretty powerful and fighting for the top of the meta.
Balance Patch #2: Demon Hunter got a hit again with the old nerf bat and has had three of its prominent cards changed.
- Altruis the Outcast - Old: Cost 3 mana, 3 Attack / 2 Health → New: Cost 4 mana. 4 Attack / 2 Health.
- Battlefiend - Old: 2 Attack / 2 Health → New: 1 Attack / 2 Health.
- Glaivebound Adept - Old: 7 Attack / 4 Health → New: 6 Attack / 4 Health.

Druid has been quite strong leading into the Ashes of Outland expansion. It has a variety of options at its disposal, including Embiggen, Token, and Quest Druid options. The class got some new synergy and is being encouraged to build a deck that features very little spells! This would be a mix of both spell and token synergy, which could end up being an option for the class in the future.
Update: Spell Druid has come alive after the second batch of nerfs. Embiggen and Big Druid are still viable options. You can check out even more decks for the class via our Best Druid Decks post!

Hunter is another class that has been very strong leading into the new expansion. It has been running Dragon, Highlander, and Face variants to pretty great success. The powerful Dragon Hunter list doesn't lose much at all in the upcoming rotation, so don't be surprised to see that deck continue to have success in the near future. Ashes of Outland brought some more Beast synergy to the class, and also pushes them a bit into the Handbuff arena. That hasn't always been great in the past, but some of the cards appear to be quite strong based on initial impressions!
Update: Hunter has a few different options that are seeing some play right now. Check out more details on these lists in our Best Hunter Decks post!

Mage has only had a Highlander deck to rely on to get it through the recent meta. The class is hoping to return to form with some spell based decks in the new expansion. Mage has been given, what I think, is some cards that truly suit the class. These cards benefit from not having any minions in the deck, so they will constantly be slinging spells. For me, that's exactly what I want to be doing if I'm playing Mage, so hopefully the deck will do well in the rotation meta!
Update: A lot of variants of Spell Mage are starting to find some success on the ladder. Highlander is still an option if you've got the cards for it. Be sure to check out our Best Mage Decks post where we go over even more variants for the class.

Paladin has shown some lackluster results in recent times, so the class is hoping to get some strong cards in the Ashes of Outland expansion. While it's still up in the air at the moment, they did receive some pretty powerful new spells called Librams. These are pretty powerful cards, and they can be reduced in cost by minions that synergize with them. It's unclear if this deck will be good enough for prime time, but we're hoping that the class is able to get back into the mix.
Update: Murloc Paladin has come alive and is looking like the popular option for the class right now.

Priest got an almost total rework prior to the expansion in an effort to shape their identity moving forward. They have found some success recently in the form of Resurrect Priest, but the list will be losing some powerful cards in the rotation. The cards they've received in the Ashes of Outland expansion at first glance appear to be kind of a mish-mash of stuff that doesn't really offer an obvious direction for decks. We'll have to wait and see how things go for the class, but the outlook right now is fairly grim.
Update: Various versions of Resurrect Priest are seeing a decent amount of play. Galakrond Priest has popped up as an additional option after the second wave of nerfs.

Variants of Galakrond Rogue has largely carried the class as we enter into the Ashes of Outland expansion. Rogue is now looking to get back to its sneaky roots by hopefully focusing on Secrets and Stealth! The new cards are mostly targeted in either of these directions, with the Stealth options looking particularly appealing. The class identity of Rogue has always been a bit weird, and now it appears that Blizzard is utilizing a flavor that seems to work better for a class that is supposed to be more of an assassin!
Update: Highlander or non-Highlander versions of Galakrond Rogue are both popular at the moment.

Shaman came into the last expansion as one of the more powerful classes in the game, and then immediately took over the meta with the powerful Galakrond Shaman. That deck got nerfed extremely fast, which eventually left the class struggling to find a worthwhile option. It's hard to say if the new expansion has given it enough tools to find a new archetype, so we'll have to wait and see if things get better for the class.

Warlock is another class hoping to find something new to play with in the Ashes of Outland expansion. It largely has relied on Galakrond Warlock to carry the class, with a variant that plays out like Zoo being solid as well. Both Highlander and Galakrond Warrior have been strong options for the class as it heads into the rotation. The class is losing some strong cards, however, so both of these decks are in question as we look to Ashes of Outland. The new expansion flirts with the idea of a "Pain" Warrior deck, but it doesn't appear to have enough support to make it happen. It looks like the class will likely look to older archetypes to try and stay afloat in the new meta.
Update: Not many people playing Warrior right now, but there's an aggressive Pirate Warrior floating around with a bit of success.
