Starter gender ratio in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Every starter Pokémon (except Pikachu) you first encounter has a one in eight chance of being a female. The odds are lower than the common male-to-female gender ratios in Pokémon, which is 3:1 and 1:1. As such, female starters are much more of a rarity.

Starter Pokémon aren’t the only species with a 8:1 gender ratio, Eevee, Cranidos, and Riolu are some examples of Pokémon that belong in this group.

If you’re not that eager to own a female starter, you can wait until you’re late into the game for a chance to encounter them.
