When you're trying to catch them all, it's nice to know your progress. The Pokedex is a helpful tool for determining how many Pokémon you have caught so far, displaying a numbered list of all Pokémon you've discovered in the region. Once you've caught or fought a Pokémon, you can view its habitat from the Pokedex screen, allowing you to find more Pokémon of that species. Here's how to open your Pokedex in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
How to open your Pokedex in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
To open up your Pokedex, press - on your Nintendo Switch. From here, you can view recently caught Pokémon and any Pokémon you've fought lately. By selecting the Pokedex icon, you can open a numbered list of all Pokémon in Paldea. This list displays the habitats of these Pokémon, as well as any important quirks. If you're wondering how close you are to completing every entry in the Pokedex, this library is a great place to check.

You can also access the Pokedex from the Map and Profile menus by pressing X and selecting the Pokedex option. Once you've completed a certain number of entries in the Pokedex, you receive milestone rewards. These rewards include Evolution Stones, Poke Balls, and even the rare Beast Ball. This is a helpful incentive for players to fill out the Pokedex, even if they do not plan on finishing every entry. Make sure to accept these rewards by pressing X in the Pokedex library, as they are not claimed automatically.
