How to get the Shiny Charm in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Get ready for the ultimate test.

One of the greatest delights in any Pokémon game is encountering a shiny Pokémon for the very first time. In the newest Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, that sentiment is no different. With over 100 new Pokémon added to this installment, getting your hands on a shiny one might seem impossible. Thankfully, there's an item that's been reintroduced that can help your chances of finding them: The Shiny Charm. Unfortunately, you can't obtain this item until you've completed the single thing that the entire Pokémon franchise is known for. You've got to catch them all.

How much does the Shiny Charm increase your chances of finding Shinies in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

While some might disagree, finding a shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet isn't as difficult as it might seem. Unlike some previous installments, you can physically see that a Pokémon is shiny before you even engage them in battle. Considering that, the odds of finding a shiny Pokémon in the wild or by breeding is about 1/4000, according to Professor Jacq himself. Once you've been given the Shiny Charm, those chances will increase to about 1/2000, which is about half!
