The Callisto Protocol takes players on a journey of horror throughout the isolated Black Iron Prison on the dead moon of Callisto. It's a modern take on classic survival horror. Part of that will take players back to basics with an extremely limited inventory. As they progress through the game, players will need to decide which items are truly important and which must be left behind. As Jacob Lee, it's up to you to not only find a way out but to also upgrade your very limited inventory space.
Are there inventory upgrades in The Callisto Protocol?
Fortunately, there is an inventory upgrade, but it's not much of one. When Jacob obtains the survival suit in Chapter 3, Aftermath, his inventory goes up from six to twelve. It's technically double the inventory space, but if you've crafted multiple guns, then the different ammo types will be dropping, there are more valuables to collect, and schematics...it's a lot. So, with only one inventory upgrade available in the entire game, you'll never stop having to manage it and deciding the priority of select items.

It's not a great system. In a game where 3d printing and upgrades are a thing, having the ability to print extra pouches would have been nice. Part of the appeal of survival horror games is the ability to progress and eventually go from being the hunted to being the hunter. Sure, it may take a few playthroughs, but it's worth it. But, that's all dependent on The Callisto Protocol having something like an NG+.
