Is Octopath Traveler 2 cross-play/cross-platform?

Octopath Traveler is a role-playing game that can be played on multiple platforms. As with every modern title, you probably want to play with your friends. That brings us to the question: is Octopath Traveler 2 cross-platform? What's more, does OT2 even have a multiplayer mode in the first place?

Does Octopath Traveler 2 have cross-platform?

Usually, you can play games with other players locally and online. But does Octopath Traveler 2 have these options? Unfortunately, Octopath Traveler 2 doesn't have a multiplayer mode. That means you can't play the game either split screen or online. Also, cross-play and cross-platform are not available in Octopath Traveler 2. So, for now, you'll have to control all characters in Octopath Traveler 2 by yourself.

Is there a possibility for Octopath Traveler 2 cross-play?

Octopath Traveler 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. The option to play the game on multiple platforms gives us hope that there may be a cross-play option. But chances for that are slim if we take its predecessor Octopath Traveler as an example. That game was also released on multiple platforms but had no cross-play or cross-platform options.
