Fortnite hints at long downtime with Chapter 4, Season 2 announcement

Long downtime ahead?

Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 1 comes to a close on March 8, and players thought the new season would start shortly after. As it turns out, Epic Games looks like they have other plans as Season 2 begins March 10, and that leaves a gap between the seasons.

Will Fortnite have two days of downtime?

With there being a gap between seasons, players wondered if there was going to be prolonged downtime that lasts multiple days. Epic confirmed downtime for Chapter 4, Season 2 begins March 10 at 2am ET. With the season ending on March 8, that does leave a two day gap for when the game will presumably be offline.

Epic Games having prolonged downtimes between seasons isn't new, as it's something they did when the black hole swallowed up the game following the conclusion of Chapter 1. It's not completely guaranteed that's what will happen in this case, but it remains unlikely Fortnite will be playable without a season being active.

Fortnite Season 1 end date was moved up

Originally, the end of Fortnite Season 1 was supposed to come on March 10, so there might have been a world where a season ended and began on the same day, which is typically how the new seasons go. However, Fortnite decided to push up the end date of Season 1 in February by announcing the news in a tweet.

Epic made up for the new season date by offering Supercharged XP for players who were looking to end the season with a bang, but there wasn't any explanation given for why they were changing the date. Numerous leaks have started to come out about what to expect in Season 2, including the possible return of Neo Tilted. There are only a few days left for fans to find out what's real and what's not from the leaks.
