How to upgrade Legendary items in Diablo 3 Season 28

Legendary items get upgraded with Kanai's Cube, something longtime Diablo 3 players know all about. This cube is found in the Ruins of Sescheron in Act 3, and it can do a lot, but we're just going to focus on the upgrading Legendary Items portion part.

Upgrading Legendary items requires 100 Primordial Ashes and one non-crafted Legendary item. The recipe players are looking for in the cube is called the Curiosity of Lorath Nahr. Finding the Legendary item shouldn't be too difficult to find as players go through the season, but the Primordial Ashes could prove to be a hassle.

How to get Primordial Ashes in Diablo 3

Primordial Ashes are a currency earned by salvaging a Primal Ancient item through the Blacksmith. Primal Ancient items are an endgame item that require players to push Greater Rifts 70 and beyond, so it does take a bit of time to build up to.

Salvaging a few of these items will be enough to get the 100 Primordial Ashes needed for upgrading a Legendary item and unlocking another part of the Altar of Rites. Players need these ashes to unlock other parts of the Altar as well, so they will be an important currency over the course of Season 28.

What are Primordial Ashes for in Diablo 3?

The main purpose of these ashes will be upgrading Legendary items and hoping for the best roll. The stats of the upgraded item are random, so it will take a lot of ashes before players finally find what they are looking for.

Players can also use them to unlock the new potion powers at the Altar of Rites, and there are three of those in total to unlock. This does mean a lot of Greater Rifts will need to be ran because lots of Primal Ancient items will need to be salvaged.
