Lords of the Fallen Encumbrance and Weight, Explained

You can only carry so much...

Taking on enemies is no joke in Lords of the Fallen, and I've come to realize just how important it is to block and dodge incoming attacks as much as possible. Encumbrance and weight play a big part in being able to dodge effectively during combat. To balance them properly, you're going to want to make sure you're wearing the proper gear and putting your skill points in the right stats. Keep reading below for all the details on Encumbrance and how to increase your weight capacity.

In your menu on the left side, you'll notice an Encumbrance meter that will display Light, Medium, or Heavy. These measurements are based on how much weight you currently have, determined by your armor and weapons. The more weight your items have, the more it will increase your Encumbrance meter.

How does Encumbrance affect you in Lords of the Fallen?

Basically, the higher Encumbrance you have, the slower you will become and the less distance your dodges will carry you. However, higher Encumbrance usually means your defense will also be higher since you'll be wearing heavier armor. Light Encumbrance will allow you to move faster with attacks and sprinting and dodge further distances.

How to increase your weight capacity in Lords of the Fallen

If you're hoping for a lighter Encumbrance, you'll want to put on lighter armor and pay close attention to how much the item you have equipped weighs. However, you can also increase your weight capacity—allowing your Encumbrance to be less affected by heavy items—by putting points into certain skills when you level up. To increase your weight capacity, you'll want to place points into Endurance and Vitality—both of these stats will increase the weight shown on the right side and allow you to take more weight without increasing your Encumbrance too much.

While armor protection is essential while fighting enemies, it's also important to have a well-balanced Encumbrance so you can move around more freely during combat and dodge effectively. Keep a close eye on your weight when equipping items and make sure to continue progressing with the right stats.
