Best starting class in Lords of the Fallen

Pick your poison

When it comes to Souls-like games, the choice of your starting class can completely define your character build right at the beginning. That initial spread of stats and starting equipment can be the determinant of how well you'll progress throughout the game. Lords of the Fallen has a walloping 10 starting classes, but out of those 10, which is the best one to start out with? I've got your answer, but it's not what you might expect.

What is the best starting class in Lords of the Fallen?

I've been playing Souls games for a very long time, so perhaps you'll see my view on this as skewed. The best starting class in Lords of the Fallen is, without a doubt, the Condemned. Now hold on. Don't leave! I can explain my reasoning, but you've got to hear me out first.

The Condemned class starts with almost nothing and has the worst starting stats out of any of the classes in the game. Your weapon of choice should you choose the Condemned is a wooden bucket. Yes, you are extremely weak as a Condemned at the start of the game, but the reason I'm recommending it is because of those starting stats. The class begins with nine in all six of the game's stats. This is terrible, but also allows you to fully customize your build, more so than any other class in the game. Builds in soul-like games are extremely important, as they determine how easy or difficult the game is for you. As a Souls veteran, the Condemned class is your strongest choice in the long game.

Best alternative starting class in Lords of the Fallen

Still, if picking the Condemned is too steep of a choice for you, then I can also recommend starting off with the Hallowed Knight. The class begins the game with a shield and decent armor, making your first few encounters fairly simplistic. It is your bog-standard knight in shining armor, so it is a safe bet. It also begins the game with a large stamina pool, making avoiding and blocking attacks pretty easy.
