The class you pick in Lords of the Fallen defines your starting experience with the game. Some classes are not equal to others, but all can be molded into a strong build if you're tenacious. This tier list will highlight which classes are very strong at the start, and which need a bit of handholding to get off the ground running. If you're looking to begin Lords of the Fallen with a leg up, you've come to the right place to learn how.
Lords of the Fallen - All classes ranked
As a quick disclaimer, all of Lords of the Fallen's classes are viable to beat the game. This list is purely based on how effective each class is at the start, since this is a game with freeform progression.
S-Rank
These classes are the strongest starting classes in the game. They either start with an incredible loadout, or set the stage to be the strongest later in the game.
Condemned
Despite the capitalized disclaimer illustrated in-game, the Condemned is easily the strongest class in Lords of the Fallen. The class begins life with the lowest total stats and the lowest level. However, they are all balanced, meaning you can craft the class into any build you desire with a little extra grinding. This flexibility makes it the best class in Lords of the Fallen.
Orian Preacher
The Orian Preacher focuses all its efforts on casting Radiance spells, which are some of the most powerful abilities in the game. Spellcasters rely heavily on the potency of their spells, and what makes this important is a significant amount of strong Radiance spells can be found rather early in the game. Several bosses give you access to them, making this class the second-best to start off with.
A-Rank
These classes are strong picks due to their well-rounded stats and kits. Any of these are safe to begin the game with.
Dark Crusader
The Dark Crusader is one of Lords of the Fallen hidden starting classes, only obtainable via an in-game quest or through purchasing the class directly. It begins life with high Endurance and Vitality, making it the best tank-based class to begin the game with. Additionally, it comes with Paladin's Pendant, which provides a further boost to Endurance and Vitality. If not for the outliers above, it would be easily the best starting class in Lords of the Fallen.
Udirangr Warwolf
The Udirangr Warwolf is a strong starting class in Lords of the Fallen for players looking to play pure martial playstyle. It begins with all core martial stats above 10, making it very flexible. Having a starting Strength stat of a walloping 16 also clears many stat requirement hurdles for some of the game's most powerful starting weapons.

Partisan
The Partisan takes a more balanced approach to the starting martial stat spread. The class begins life with equipment that takes advantage of the balanced stats, making it versatile for many different playstyle directions.
Mournstead Infantry
The Mourstead Infantry class has a very similar stat spread to the Partisan, with more focus on Agility while sacrificing a small amount of Vitality. What makes this class so strong, however, is the pole weapon it begins with. Pole weapons, such as spears, have significantly longer ranges than just about every other melee weapon in the game, giving you a big advantage early on.
Hallowed Knight
You may be noticing a trend with the soldier classes in Lords of the Fallen. They are all strong early game due to their versatile stat spreads, and the Hallowed Knight is no exception. The class begins with a very high Endurance stat, making it the best class to begin with if you're planning to use heavy armor, weapons, and/or shields.

B-Rank
These classes, while having some merit and useful gear, tend to be on the weaker side of the spectrum.
Blackfeather Ranger
The Blackfeather Ranger is the only class that begins life with a bow in hand. It is a soldier class with a slight edge on Agility. However, I have to rank it below the others due to its starting equipment. Having a bow at the start of the game is nice, but the rest of the class's gear leaves much to be desired.
Exiled Stalker
The Exiled Stalker is your typical assassin class in Lords of the Fallen. While it has its strong points (like the starting armor being one of the best-balanced sets in the game), it falls short due to Agility-focused weapons being a bit lackluster. It also begins with throwing knives as its ranged weapon, which underperforms compared to other options.
C-Rank
The classes listed here are just barely viable to start the game with. However, expect significant progression walls early on, as the game is basically designed to counter the classes here.
Pyric Cultist
Fortunately, the Pyric Cultist is the only starting class I have to rank as a C-Tier. While it has a decent starting armor set, the class falters heavily in its focus on Inferno spells. Inferno spells are rather uncommon early on and, to make matters worse, a large majority of the game's enemies are resistant to Fire damage. The icing on the cake is the strong Inferno spells to overcome these hurdles aren't available to acquire until the mid-late game. Not the best way to start a souls-like.
