What is the Sea of Thieves Safer Seas release date?

Sometimes you wanna sail in peace.

Sea of Thieves is one of my favorite multiplayer games because I love pirates. I always have a good time sailing alone or with friends. However, I can't stand putting in hours of work only for another crew to show up, sink my ship, and steal all my loot. Fortunately, Rare has announced Safer Seas, which allows players to enjoy Sea of Thieves without other pirates interrupting them. But this leaves the question of when Safer Seas get added to Sea of Thieves.

When does Safer Seas come to Sea of Thieves?

No official date has been given for Safer Seas other than January 2024. While Season 10 and Guilds launched on October 19, 2023, Sea of Thieves fans will have to wait longer for Safer Seas to be added. I suspect Safer Seas will be released on a Thursday, as updates are usually released on Thursday for Sea of Thieves. Here are the dates I believe Safer Seas may release in Sea of Thieves.

  • Sea of Thieves Safer Seas Speculated Release Date
    • December 7, 2023
    • December 14, 2023
    • December 21, 2023
    • December 28, 2023

What is Safer Seas in Sea of Thieves?

Safer Seas in Sea of Thieves act as private servers, allowing up to four players to sail together. There are no other players in the world when joining Safer Seas unless you invite them; you can safely enjoy everything Safer Seas has to offer without worrying about other pirates attacking and stealing your plunder.

It is important to note Safer Seas has some restrictions or limitations compared to normal seas. Most of this comes down to reduced rates of gaining gold, reputation, renown, and more. Here are the key features of Safer Seas in Sea of Thieves.

  • Progress up to level 40 in all Trading Companies except the Reaper's Bones and Athena's Fortune.
  • Earn Gold and Reputation at a reduced rate.
  • Earn Seasonal Renown at the same rate as High Seas.
  • Play through all Tall Tales solo or with your friends.
  • Work towards all applicable Commendations and Achievements.
  • Purchase cosmetics from the Outpost and Seapost stores.
  • Invite any Xbox Live friends into your session.
