In Call of Duty MW3 Zombies, Raw Aetherium Crystals are items that provide upgrades for your weapons. Below, you'll find all the details on how to use this valuable crystal in MW3 Zombies.
How to farm Raw Aetherium in MW3 Zombies
Raw Aetherium is a purple-colored Epic Rarity crystal that you will find in various locations across the map, and it is used to Pack-a-Punch on any weapon. To find Raw Aetherium, you can try the following methods:
- Search Loot Caches in different difficulty zones.
- Complete contracts like Raid Weapon Stash, Bounty, or High Value Targets. You may acquire Raw Aetherium as a reward.
- Find Schematics, as they allow you to craft the Raw Aetherium Crystal. First, you need to collect the Raw Aetherium Schematic and exfil from the map with it. You can craft the Raw Aetherium as long as you have the Schematic, but having it as an Acquisition means you can only use it once to Pack-A-Punch your weapon in a match.
- I found Raw Aetherium by completing Strongholds and from Aether Nest loot caches (in yellow and red zones). Once it's in your inventory, use it to Pack-a-Punch your weapon to level 1. Players can visit the Strongholds, break all the cysts, and defeat all the zombies inside. Similarly, you need to repeat the same process of destroying cysts to capture the Aether Nests. Upon doing this, loot caches will open that contain ammo modifications like Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod, Aether Tools, Lethal and Tactical equipment, along with Raw Aetherium Crystals.

While starting a match, you won't have Pack-A-Punch upgraded weapons. To upgrade these guns, you can farm Essencec and visit Pack-A-Punch machines. Similarly, collecting Raw Aetherium Crystal allows you to Pack-A-Punch a weapon to Level 1. There is another kind of item known as Refined Aetherium Crystal that Pack-A-Punch upgrades your weapon to Level 2.
Aside from upgrading guns with Raw Aetherium Crystals, you can visit a Pack-a-Punch machine using Essence (in-game currency). These machines are scattered all around the map and cost 5,000 Essence for Level 1, and 10,000 Essence for Level 2 Pack-A-Punch upgrades. Keep in mind that higher Pack-A-Punch upgrades require you to travel to yellow and red zones respectively.
