All Items in The Sims 4 For Rent

The Sims 4 pack, For Rent, centers on rental properties set in a village inspired by Southeast Asian culture and geography. This is reflect in many aspects of the expansion pack.

The cultural influence is especially shown in the Create-a-Sim and Build/Buy items. So what all is included in this DLC?

All CAS Items in For Rent - The Sims 4

In the For Rent expansion pack trailers and game page previews, we see lots of Southeast Asian-inspired clothing. This means relaxed fits, thinner materials, and lively colors. Not only are these items available for adult Sims, but also children, toddlers, and infants. The styles vary in suitability for age, but I was surprised to see a fair amount of elderly-friendly clothing items.

Once entering the game after it launched, I found that this was still true. The comfortable, breezy, and eclectic clothing is present throughout. There are plenty of shorts, sandals, capris, and knee-length outfits. This is due to the warm and humid nature of Southeast Asia. Assortments of CAS items were divided pretty evenly amongst age groups and gender identities, as well.

All Build/Buy Items in For Rent - The Sims 4

Similar to the CAS items in The Sims 4 For Rent, the Build/Buy features are heavily inspired by Southeast Asian design. The includes tiled floors, natural wood tones, and less of a direct barrier between inside and outside (open windows and doors like in Selvadorada). There are also tons of decor items, ranging from industrial/commercial to homey. Expect some regional-specific additions, like squat toilets and paper lanterns.

Unsurprisingly, For Rent features a ton of exterior decor and home construction items (like windows and doors). This is because you'll likely use this pack to create large structures to house multiple tenants. I was disappointed to see only one bed, four living room seating options, and four plants. Plants especially seem like an oversight, as Southeast Asia is known for its tropical climate with unique plant varieties.

What gameplay items do you get in The Sims 4 For Rent?

This expansion pack is full of gameplay items, due to the nature of the pack. For Rent in The Sims 4 enables rental properties in a Southeast Asian town (though you can use it in other worlds, too), so you'll see plenty of gameplay features and items surrounding these two ideas. Mailboxes, altars, and air conditioning units are some examples.

The mailboxes are used for a lot of tenant and landlord functions. With air conditioning units and radiators, you can control climate like the thermostat from the Seasons pack. You'll also encounter breaker boxes that can cause havoc if you aren't careful! There's also a regionally inspired food stall.

Of course the biggest gameplay addition in For Rent is the new lot type - the Residential Rental. This kind of lot gives players the power to build apartments, duplexes, and other types of joined residential spaces. You can even make a single bedroom or basement for rent! Up to six units are possible on Residential Rental lots.
