Helldivers 2 finally drops mechs in explosive trailer

Nothing beats a giant mech.

The moment Helldivers 2 fans have been waiting for has finally arrived with the reveal of pilotable mechs. Mechs were an amazingly fun aspect of the first title, and I've been eagerly anticipating any confirmation of mechs returning.

Mechs were finally revealed during the January 31, 2024 PlayStation State of Play on PlayStation's YouTube. While it was just a small tease, seeing enemies fleeing from the giant mech and unleashing bullets was extremely satisfying. I'm really hoping I can just stomp on enemies while unloading everything in my mech's arsenal, too.

The downside is the small caveat that mechs won't be available at launch. While I am a bit disappointed by this, Sony did at least say, "Coming soon after launch," so hopefully, there won't be a long wait. Helldivers 2's combat looks incredibly fun and explosive, so while mechs would be a great addition, I am content to wait.

My hope is the extended time before mechs are available means they will feel as good as they did in the original Helldivers, and that we get a good variety. The mech seen is equipped with a mini-gun and what looks to be a missile launcher, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are customizable.
