Best unit formations in Unicorn Overlord

Unicorn Overlord battles are tough. In order to get the most in this TRPG, you might be curious to see what kind of teams you can put together.

Strong unit teams in Unicorn Overlord

Depending on how far along you are in the game, the best unit makeup will change as you gain more units. To successfully reach the late game, you'll need great teams every step of the way, especially if you are planning to play on a more challenging difficulty.

Best early-game Unicorn Overlord teams

Early game, you will be limited to the units you have access to. When you are first able to actually change the makeup of your teams, you will have access to Alain, Chloe, Hodrick, Josef, Lex, Clive, Travis, and Aubin. Until you are able to unlock more units, these are my favorite teams to make with the units you have.

• Alain and Clive: Alain is a powerful early game unit that can HP drain from enemies, allowing him to take hits while leaving his backup to deal all the damage. Clive is great for this with his Assault Lance attack. As for the third in this team up, a healer is a good addition to the team, so Chloe might be a great choice.
• Travis and Clive: If you want to deal a whole bunch of damage to a group of enemies, Travis and Clive paired up with a healer will decimate enemies before they have much of a chance to respond.
• Alain and Hodrick: Hodrick is an absolute tank; paired with Alain, you don't need a healer. You can just add another attacker to their party to deal a ton of damage.
• Sharon, Yahna, and Clive: After The Winged Knight and The Ravaged Swamp, you'll have a witch unit named Yahna and a healer Cleric named Sharon. Sharon will help to keep Clive alive while Yahna buffs Clive.

Best Unicorn Overlord unit formations

After you have put a few hours and have recruited more Unicorn Overlord units, you will be able to build even better teams that are tailored to the situation you have in front of you. However, there are a couple of teams that are just generically good.

• Melisandre, Josef, and Ochlys: Melisandre and Josef together just need a buff unit to make sure they can cleave through almost anything. If you chose to execute Mordon, you will earn a bunch of Divine Shards, meaning you will get even closer to the 30 needed to unlock Ochlys. If you haven't, though, you can still scrape together enough of these Shards to unlock her, it will just take a bit longer. However, Yahna makes a decent replacement if you don't have her yet. Also, before Melisandre becomes available, Alain is a good substitute for her.
• Auch, Josef, and Sharon: Putting the wizard Auch in the leader position will give him the ability to smash the opposing team with fireballs while Josef tanks the damage. Sharon or another healer will keep Josef alive.

• Fran, Lex, and Yahna: Fran is a gryphon unit, and she makes for a very powerful ally. In order to use her, you will want someone in front to boost defenses, which makes Lex a great choice. Yahna is the perfect partner to buff allies, too. Later in the game when you have Melisandre and Colm, you can also use Colm here.
• Bruno, Yahna, and Fran: Bruno is an amazing unit that allows for tanking and then healing himself of any wounds he takes. Pair him up with a flying unit and a healer or a buff unit to keep him alive as Fran slams enemies from the back row.
