After beating Rellana, Twin Moon Knight at Castle Ensis, your next stop should be Shadow Keep in Scadu Altus if you want to go to the next major boss. Defeating Rellana will open up a new area to you called Scadu Altus. There are a lot of quests to do and other secrets to discover in this area. But, if you want to progress the game's story, then Shadow Keep is the next location.

As soon as you enter Scadu Altus, you'll see Shadow Keep in the distance from the first Site of Grace. You'll also notice a Furnace Golem roaming near that area as well. That is the path you'll have to take to go to Shadow Keep.

Go straight down from the first Site of Grace towards the Furnace Golem and follow the path. You'll stumble upon a camp of Mesmmer's soldiers who are quite powerful. You'll see a gate in front of the Shadow Keep where there is a lift to take you upwards. Go upwards and you'll reach a Site of Grace. In front of the Site of Grace is the arena for the Golden Hippopotamus boss fight.

Golden Hippopotamus Boss Guide - Tips & Tricks

The Golden Hippopotamus is a very tough boss, as it's very tanky and uses magic, so you'll need a lot of damage. For weapons, we recommend the Blasphemous Blade, Dark Moon Greatsword, or Bloodhound Fang (fully upgraded, of course) for melee users because they take a good chunk of the Hippo's health. For magic users, using a combination of Night Comet, Rock Sling, and Meteorite of Astel will do fine as well. Lusat's Glinstone Staff and Carian Regal Scepter are two of the best in the game you can use for these spells.

The Hippo does a variety of thrusting attacks combined with magic, so keeping a light load is your best bet so as to dodge quickly. Additionally, keeping yourself closer to it will make it much easier to damage it if you're a melee user. For magic users, when it does its charged attacks and after those, you'll have great openings to damage it. If you're having a tough time with it, summon a Spirit Ash (preferably the Mimic Tear which is still the best one) to help you out in this fight.
