Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed release date

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed is due to be released on September 24, 2024. The game is being developed by Purple Lamp, who was also responsible for the 2010 Epic Mickey title. Though the game involves Disney characters, it will be published by THQ Nordic.

Disney hasn't developed or published their own games for quite a few years. Originally, they ran under Disney Interactive Studios, but on May 10, 2016, Disney announced a $147 million write-down and discontinued its self-publishing console games operations.

Today's Disney game projects are passed on to developers and publishers that work with Disney. Disney Dreamlight Valley, for example, was developed and published by Gameloft. However, players of DDV have their own issues with the game's bugs and have taken to venting on the dev's social media posts.

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed trailer

The trailer that was shown during the 2024 THQ Nordic Digital Showcase has been well-received, with YouTube users commenting on the nostalgia of playing a remake of a game they played as children.

One enthusiastic commenter said, "Thank you so much for bringing this hidden gem back to modern consoles. I can relive my childhood again!"

The trailer shows off plenty of the features in Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, but also introduces the dark and broken fantasy world that Mickey is attempting to fix. As a player, it's your job to help Mickey restore harmony to the Wasteland, and bring color and life back to the environment.

You'll be treated to a range of gameplay elements, including side-scrolling routes that you'll need to traverse through to find treasure chests, gems, and other items.

Your choices will influence Mickey's destiny; are you up to the task?

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed will be available on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. No one will miss out on this game, and there are also exclusive rewards available for fans who decide to preorder.

There are two versions of the game available to order: the Standard Edition and the Collector's Edition.

The Standard Edition will only come with the exclusive costume pack that gives you different outfits to dress Mickey in (Steamboat Willie, Brave Little Tailor, and Football Mickey).

On the other hand, the Collector's Edition comes with:

  • The base game
  • A Collector's Steelbook
  • Oswald the Lucky Rabbit keychain
  • 28cm Mickey Mouse statue
  • 6 Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed postcards
  • Vintage Mickey Mouse Tin sign
  • The Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed Costume Pack (in-game reward)

Those who preorder will also benefit from a slightly earlier release day. The trailer shown during THQ's showcase revealed that preorders will be able to play the game 24 hours before everyone else. It's likely that this will be easier to access if you have a digital version of the game, but as there is no information available regarding early delivery dates for physical preorders, I can't confirm that one way or the other.

What I know for sure is that Early Access will not be available for those who preorder on PC or Steam.
