All Fisch Magic Thread Locations & Uses

We're starting to fish up some strange things, you have to admit.

Magic Thread is one of the few crafting materials in Fisch. Knowing where to find this material and how to use it can make a world of difference. In this guide, I’ll walk you through every method to obtain Magic Thread, the best locations for fishing it up, and what you can create with it at the Ancient Archives.

Where to Find Magic Thread in Fisch

Magic Thread isn’t easy to come by, but persistence and a bit of strategy can make the grind more manageable. While you can technically find it anywhere, some locations seem to have better results based on my personal experience.

Fishing for Magic Thread

Fishing is the most common way to acquire Magic Thread. However, it’s not guaranteed, and it might take some time. To optimize your chances, I recommend using a Mythical Rod with Bagel bait, as this setup yielded the best results for me. Here are the locations where I had the most success:

LocationResultsTips
Moosewood Docks (the right side)3 Magic Threads in 10 catchesA great beginner spot, as it’s easy to access and consistently provides good results.
Base of the Ancient Isles Waterfall3 Magic Threads in 10 catchesThis area also leads to the Ancient Archives, making it efficient for multi-tasking.
Terrapin Island (near the Shipwright NPC)2 Magic Threads in 10 catchesA solid choice if you’re already on Terrapin Island for other activities.
Snowcap Island (left of the Shipwright NPC)1 Magic Thread in 10 catchesLow yield for Magic Thread but excellent for crafting materials like Moon Wood (I caught three Moon Wood during the same 10 catches).
Sunstone Island (near the Merchant NPC)1 Magic Thread in 10 catchesWorth visiting if you’re already near the Merchant NPC for other tasks.

Treasure Chests

Another way to find Magic Thread is through Treasure Chests, but this method is far from guaranteed. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. Find a Treasure Map. These are rare and can only be obtained through fishing.
  2. Decrypt the Map. Go to Jack Marrow on the Forsaken Shore to have him fill out the missing coordinates on your map.
  3. Locate the Chest. Equip a GPS (available from Moosewood) to pinpoint the chest's location.
  4. Open the Chest. Even with all this effort, there’s only a 16% chance the chest will contain Magic Thread.

While Treasure Chests offer a potential alternative, the odds make fishing a more reliable option overall.

What is Magic Thread Used for in Fisch

The Crafting Rod in Fisch

Magic Thread is a crafting material used exclusively at the Ancient Archives, a hidden location below the Ancient Isle. You’ll need this thread to create some of the craftable fishing rods in Fisch. Here’s a complete list of rods you can craft, along with their requirements:

Rod NameRequired LevelMaterials NeededCost

Wisdom Rod401x Ruby, 2x Mythical Driftwood, 1x Magic Thread50,000C$

How to Access the Ancient Archives

To craft any of these rods, you’ll need to unlock the Ancient Archives, a hidden area behind a waterfall in the Ancient Isle. Here’s how to get in:

  1. Collect the Four Fragments. The Ancient Fragment, Solar Fragment, Earth Fragment, and Deep Sea Fragment.
  2. Team Up with Three Other Players. Each player must place one fragment in the corresponding statue around the Ancient Archive entrance.
  3. Rotate the Statues During an Eclipse. The statues can only be rotated during an Eclipse event. To trigger this, you’ll need an Eclipse Totem, which costs 250,000C$ and is found in the same cave as the Phoenix Rod on the Ancient Isle.
  4. Activate the Pressure Plates: Once the fragments are placed, ensure every player is standing on their pressure plate, and that they have turned their statues until they are facing inward.
  5. Enter the Archives. With the puzzle solved, the gates will open, revealing the crafting station at the center of the Ancient Archives.

While farming for Magic Thread can be time-consuming, it’s worth the effort for the rewards it unlocks. Prioritise fishing in hotspots like Moosewood Docks and Ancient Isles Waterfall to maximize your chances. If you’re after other rare crafting materials, consider Snowcap Island as well.
