Now you've got water purification all figured out in Abiotic Factor, you're going to want to start planting and growing your crops. If you don't know how read on for a no-nonsense guide.
What You'll Need to Start Farming in Abiotic Factor
The first thing you need is a garden plot (either a square or round one). These can only be acquired by building them at a powered crafting station. You won't start with the recipe but will learn it by finding the key materials on your travels through the base. The required materials are one wooden plank, one plastic scrap, one hose, and one soil bag.
The wood and plastic are plentiful and often found when deconstructing furniture. Hoses and soil bags are trickier to find but are still available in the earliest parts of the office sector. There are a number of soil bags in Bio Lab D, along with seeds, which you'll need as discussed below.
Place the garden plot as you would any other type of construction, however, you will need to put it in a well-lit area (electric light will suffice; natural light is hard to come by so far underground), with a stable temperature, away from enemies.
Once you've built the garden plot you'll need to plant a seed (one for each plot). In the early game, you will only have access to tomato seeds (a generous amount can be found in Bio Lab D) but other crops will become available as you explore.
Plant the seed by approaching the garden plot with it in your hand and pressing 'e' when prompted.
The planted seed requires clean water, as discussed in the water purification guide linked at the top of the page. To get the water prompt to appear you will need to have the water container in your hands and aim at the frame of the garden plot itself.
Planted and watered seeds take five in-game days to ripen. Once the growth cycle is complete you can harvest the fruit by approaching it and pressing 'e'.
If the plant is well cared for it will continue to ripen and provide a crop indefinitely. However, if it is left too long without water it will die. Once this happens the only way to recover it will be to destroy the plant and sew a fresh seed.
Before long you should have tomato juice coming out of your ears but, if its another type of red stuff you crave, why not check out Pro Game Guide's extensive V rising guides.
