Among Us Best Settings for 10, 7, and 5 Players!

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

As Among Us starts to get more familiar with players, a lot of groups are starting to experiment with the rules that are attached to each game. This customization makes it so you can keep the game a bit fresher, and not get so bored with it after playing the same maps over and over again. There's a lot to adjust, so picking out the right options for your group can be difficult. We're going to explore these settings and pick out the top selections for a variety of different player counts.

There's not going to be a whole lot of difference in settings between each player amount. You will mostly just want to adjust the discussion time, because if you have a smaller group of players, you aren't going to need as long to discuss things. So, reduce the time limit down to speed things up a bit.

Setting Information

I'm going to go through each of the settings and explain what they do. This might help you have a better understanding of what you would like to choose for your particular group of players when you play together.

Recommended Settings

These are the general settings that are recommended by the developers. A lot of players feel that they aren't very good and recommend you change them right away, however, you might want to play a few games with them on just to get some experience under your belt.

Confirm Ejects

Confirm Ejects is a more recently added feature, and it does make things a bit easier on the Imposters. When a player is kicked out and this is unchecked, it will just say that a person was removed from the game, but it will not tell you if they were an Imposter or not. So, as a Crewmate, you won't know how many Imposters are left or not, which makes things more difficult for you. If you find that your Imposters aren't doing so well, then this might be a setting you uncheck.

# Emergency Meetings

This is the amount of meetings that can be called without finding a body. Seeing as there will usually be quite a few meetings when bodies are found, you shouldn't need too many of these. If there's a lot of them, then players will just spam them repeatedly and slow down the game.

Emergency Cooldown

This is how long in-between meetings can be called. Good to at least have a buffer of some kind between meetings, so they aren't constantly being activated.

Discussion Time

This is how long you and everyone who is still in the game will have to discuss who you feel is the Imposter or not. Your setting of this largely depends on if you want to have long-winded discussions or not. This can be a big part of the fun in this game, but it will make rounds extend longer.

Voting Time

You can decide how long you want to give players to decide on their votes.

Player Speed

If you want players to zoom around the map then you can increase the setting, and if you want them to be sluggish, then you can drop it down.

Crewmate Vision

How far you are able to see other players is determined by this number. It's usually better to give the Imposter an advantage, but if they are winning all the time you can increase this number.

Impostor Vision

Same thing as Crewmate Visions but for Imposters. If Imposters are struggling to win, you might want to bump this up. It's usually better to give Imposters more vision than the Crewmates. This also improves the ability to see when the lights are out, so it makes shutting them off more of a viable strategy if this is bumped up.

Kill Cooldown

The time that the Imposters have to wait between kills. You don't want this to be too short, or they can go on a killing spree if no one finds the bodies.

Kill Distance

How far the Imposter has to be from a Crewmate to land a kill. I generally would stick with short, so the Imposter has to get up-close and personal.

Visual Tasks

Certain tasks will actually visibly show a Crewmate completing them, which allows you to confirm whether or not they are an Imposter. Other tasks just let the player stand there without animation, which makes it hard to tell if they are truly doing anything. If you uncheck this then it will make all tasks not have an animation.

# Common, Long, Short Tasks

These just depend on how many tasks you want the Crewmates to complete before they win. It's really personal preference on how difficult you want to make things on the Crew.
