This is an accessibility setting to make the game easier if you are having trouble with a boss or enemies; it's also very funny and needed for one of the achievements in Another Crab's Treasure. If you turn this on, it will replace Kril's shell with a handgun which can one-shot enemies. When you've found one of the basic crab enemies, simply press and hold LB/L1 to ready your pistol and aim it at the enemy, and then press X/Square to shoot it. Once you have shot the fellow crab, you should unlock the trophy.

It's worth noting that the gun is basically a cheat code that'll make the rest of your experience in Another Crab's Treasure incredibly easy. You can just shoot any enemy from range, and instantly kill them. If you're looking for a slightly more challenging experience, I'd recommend turning this back off once you've unlocked the This Kills The Crab trophy/ achievement.
