In ARK Survival Ascended, you use console commands to disable clouds, and it significantly improves the graphics quality. I used the console command to disable clouds to see a stark rise in FPS, and here's how you can do it in-game.
How to remove clouds with console commands in ARK Survival Ascended
ARK Survival Ascended has an open world that you can explore freely, but the gameplay can feel choppy for several reasons. FPS issues are quite persistent in this game, even if you are running things on the lowest settings. I faced this issue numerous times, especially while moving across water bodies, or while interacting with different types of creatures on the map. Luckily, there is a solution that allows you to boost the FPS by removing clouds from the map.
You can remove clouds by typing in a simple console command, but before that, you'll need to activate the option from the settings tab. Get in the game, open settings, and select the Advanced tab. Here you'll find the option to toggle Console Access On or OFF. Switch it On and get back in the game. Follow the process mentioned below to remove clouds from your map.
- After toggling Console Access ON, press ~ button (top left hand on your keyboard)
- This will open the Console Commands Panel
- Write down the following code in the text box r.VolumetricCloud 0.
- Press Enter to remove clouds from your game
- To bring back clouds and fog, write down the following code in the text box r.VolumetricCloud 1

Check the slideshow above to see how the game looks with and without clouds. As you can see, there is a massive difference in visuals when the clouds are disabled through console commands. The map becomes much more visible and you'll get better frames while playing on low to medium graphics.
