Should you let Auntie Ethel take your eye in BG3?

An eye for an eye!

In Baldur's Gate 3, you will be presented with many situations where making a choice alters the narrative. To find a cure for the parasite, your party will search for different healers across the regions, and Auntie Ethel is one of them. Although she looks completely harmless at the start, this creature hides its true identity. Naturally, you need to know if sacrificing your eye to Auntie Ethel to get rid of the parasite will be worth it or not. Here's what you should choose while interacting with Auntie Ethel in Baldur's Gate 3.

What happens if you give your eye to Auntie Ethel in Baldur's Gate 3?

Out of all the challenging choices in the game, you'll face a tricky one while interacting with Auntie Ethel in Baldur's Gate 3. Your character's eye is infected by the Mind Flayer Parasite, and at first, it seems that Auntie Ethel might have a practical solution. To make things clear, her solution is to root out your eye to eliminate the Mind Flayer Parasite. This will leave you blind in one eye and will be a clear disadvantage when you face Auntie Ethel in her true Hag form later on while rescuing Mayrina.

Opting to root out your eye will give you a special condition called Paid the Price, increasing your character's intimidation skill. You will also lose perceptiveness, which would be an essential aspect to have while fighting Hags. Perception allows you to sense traps, figure out paths across tricky terrain, find hidden items, and so much more. Losing it for intimidation is futile, as the process to remove the parasite won't work since it is beyond Auntie Ethel's control, and it will dig deeper inside your brain.

I would recommend keeping your eye and the Mind Flayer Parasite by refusing Auntie Ethel's treatment. Your character will understand the significance of the parasite while progressing through the narrative, and attempting to get rid of it early on would not be a great choice.
