With Battlefield 2042 quickly approaching, fans of the realistic shooter are sure to enjoy the gritty warfare for which the franchise is known. The most recent entry in the Battlefield franchise promises to bring more chaotic action than ever before with more expansive multiplayer, but will the game have a single-player story?
Battlefield 2042 will not feature a single-player campaign. EA and DICE have opted instead to focus on the multiplayer experience in Battlefield in the most recent entry to the first-person shooter franchise.

Battlefield 2042 won't have a battle royale mode at launch either. These revelations put Battlefield 2042 in stark contrast to its direct competitor for Holiday 2021 sales, Call of Duty: Vanguard. The latter option offers a campaign that players can enjoy offline, multiplayer modes, and a battle royale.
Fan reception to this decision from EA and DICE has varied. Some see removing a single-player campaign as an irrelevant change, while others are livid to see their favorite franchise remove a series staple like the story mode. How the game performs is yet to be seen, but we'll know for sure when the game launches in Nov. 2021.
