Bullet spread, also known as weapon bloom, has been a major issue in Battlefield 2042. It is a shooting mechanic that deviates the course of the bullet from the intended path. Although bloom is meant to add realism, it creates inconsistent gunplay and isn't much appreciated in the community.
Since the mechanic is here to stay, you can counter it in certain ways. This guide covers how you can control bullet spread or bloom in Battlefield 2042:
- Any kind of movement worsens the accuracy, especially jumping and vaulting. It's best to find a balance between strafing and standing completely still throughout the gunfight.
- Crouching while shooting a full-auto weapon improves the accuracy to some extent. Crouch spamming also keeps the enemy from getting headshots on you.
- Hipfiring works really well when in close-quarters combat. Try using it more often.
- Controlling recoil by pulling down on the mouse or stick. You'll have to get used to the weapon and learn the recoil pattern to get good at recoil control.
- If finding it hard to control recoil, you should tap-fire instead of sustained and rapid firing. Tap-fire also helps a lot when taking fights over distances.
- Using the correct attachments on your weapons is crucial. Since you can control vertical recoil easily, it's advisable to prefer attachments that improve horizontal accuracy.
- Although it's secondary, you should configure in-game settings properly. Adjust the field of view, sensitivity, and vertical aim sensitivity to your preference.
Generally, bullet spread is more pronounced in Assault Rifles. It is also present in other weapon classes such as Submachine Guns. Furthermore, Sniper Rifles and DMRs lose accuracy when you shoot while moving. While playing Battlefield, make sure to take your Sniper shot when still.
According to Shroud, ADS bloom essentially rewards players with bad aim and punishes those who are accurate. Some may argue that creating a balance amongst players is good, but this shouldn't come at the cost of degrading the gunplay.
