How to unlock Perks and Abilities in Bleak Faith Forsaken

Double check your inventory!

The powerful Perks and Abilities of the game are locked away at first in Bleak Faith: Forsaken. While they can each be game changers in their own right, they can't be used until players get their hands on particular items. Ability Splinters will unlock the various Abilities found in the Character menu of the game, while Perk Essence is required to unlock and upgrade Perks. This isn't outright explained in the game but can make going through each area much easier. Players may not even know they have these items on them, so here is how to use them to unlock Perks and Abilities in the game.

In the Character menu, players can read and check their Stats, figure out how many points they have, as well as see their other buffs and debuffs. In the menu, two tabs are available to go through but won't be of much use at the beginning of the game. The Abilities menu will show off the Abilities that players can unlock and assign to themselves. This functions much like Weapon Abilities and must be equipped the same way when playing on a controller, but for Mouse and Keyboard players, these just need to be activated with Shift + 1 or 2. Perks are unlocked by using Ability Splinters, rare items that must be found while exploring or defeating powerful enemies.

The second menu is the Perks menu, listing all the passive perks that players can equip and upgrade. Like Abilities, only a few can be equipped at a time and they require a Perk Essence in order to unlock. These unlock throughout the course of the game, and the first is awarded when meeting the Handler without any message displaying that it is now in the Inventory. It would do players good to check back to their Perk screen every so often as they may have a few Perk Essences without even realizing it.
