A clan tag is something that Call of Duty players have been rocking for years now, and that's no different in Modern Warfare 2. Here's how to change your clan tag in Modern Warfare 2.
How to edit your clan tag in Modern Warfare 2
Changing and editing your clan tag is an easy process in Modern Warfare, and if this isn't your first Call of Duty game played, you likely have it already done. It's as simple as pressing Options, tabbing over to Progression, and then going to the Edit Clan Tag option.

You won't be able to put profanity as your tag, so don't go around hoping for that. Essentially, this is just a way for you to stand out among your peers or to ensure the squad you play with has the same tag. Having a tag has no gameplay benefit, but it's more of a way to add to your name.
What can you use as your Clan Tag in MW2?
Clan Tags in Modern Warfare 2 can be up to five characters, so players can put just about anything there they want as long as it isn't offensive and within five characters. Putting something like FaZe or 100T will be something many players do, but doing that won't magically make them play any better in Ranked Play.
Playing without a Clan Tag is also perfectly within reason, so don't feel pressured to make one if you don't have anything worthwhile to put there. You'll be able to change the tag whenever you want, so don't feel locked into any one tag, either.
