The month-long Critical Countdown event in Modern Warfare 3 tasks you with collecting various types of DNA samples across multiplayer, Zombies and Warzone. We'll explain the best way to collect the DNA samples quickly so that you can get the rewards faster.
How to farm DNA samples quickly in MW3 Season 4
The best way to collect DNA samples quickly is by playing the Zombies mode. The risk of dying is very low (but not impossible) and you can rack up both the Ade and Cyto DNA samples (two of the four DNA samples currently available to get) easily. Start by clearing the Tier 1 Zone and completing contracts, like raiding weapon stashes and defending areas. This will trigger hordes of zombies to come your way, allowing you to get a ton of easy kills in the early stages. Move around the map if you're more of a roamer or set up a proper camping spot to take out the Zombies. By the end of the contract, you'll rack up around 50 kills, which equates to 50 DNA samples.
Generally, the Cyto (Orange) DNA samples are much rarer than the Ade (Blue) samples in my experience, so you'll have to farm a bit more efficiently to get them. The most efficient way to get Cyto DNA samples is by killing special zombies as these have a higher drop rate for them. Regular zombies do drop these but the rate is very low ( around 1-2 in 5 zombies in the Tier 1 zone).
Another way to farm DNA samples is by calling the exfil helicopter which triggers a horde of zombies. When you think you've farmed enough you can exfil or do this method again for more DNA samples. Farming in the Tier 1 zone is beneficial as you can easily find a lot of zombies and again, the risks are very low. If you farm the Tier 1 zone for the initial 45 minutes in a Zombies session, then you can easily rack up around 1000 DNA samples. This will help you get most of the rewards from the Critical Countdown events.
If Zombies isn't really your kind of thing, you can also rack them up pretty quickly by looting them from caches in Warzones, and from eliminated players in multiplayer and Warzone, too. If you're really into multiplayer, I'd recommend diving into the Small Map Moshpit playlist. It's very easy to rack up kills (and in turn, DNA samples) in this, but it is very chaotic so expect to die a lot yourself.
