MWZ (MW3 Zombies) Launch content detailed – Loadouts, Operators, & more

Lots of  COD Zombies content this time around...

Modern Warfare 3: Zombies is shaping up to be a content-rich experience with different ways to play and tons of weapons. Here are all the details you need to know if you're a big fan of COD Zombies, coming at the launch of Modern Warfare 3.

All MW3 Zombies Launch content, explained

MWZ effectively replaces the DMZ game mode featured in Modern Warfare 2. However, the DMZ format won't disappear completely. Instead, it's being integrated into MWZ; with that understanding, MWZ is built on three pillars of content:

  • Operation Deadbolt - Much like DMZ, MWZ is an open-world experience where you'll search for valuable resources and Schematics for upgrading your load-outs. Operation Deadbolt is also the name of the ongoing storyline that will begin with MWZ.
  • Missions and Contracts - Again, like DMZ, you'll be tasked with completing specific Missions to unlock new content and story progression. Additionally, you'll be able to complete Contracts to earn rewards while you're exploring the open world.
  • Secure and Extraction - The longer you spend wandering the world, the more you'll attract the attention of the undead. You can't stay forever because you'll be overwhelmed, so extract what you can to reap the most rewards.

While these are the core portions of MWZ, there is much more to learn about, like how deployment works.

MW3 Zombies - Strike Teams and Loadouts

In order to play MWZ, you'll need a Strike team of Operators to deploy with. Each Operator has their own gear you can equip them with, and you can recruit any operators unlocked from Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3.

Just like in DMZ, you'll insure much of the gear you find while scavenging in MWZ. Each member of your Strike Team has access to several gear slots to consider when preparing to deploy.

  • Primary and Secondary Weapons - All weapons from MW2 and MW3 will be usable in MWZ.
  • Insured Slots - You have access to three Insured slots, with only one being available at the beginning until unlocked via MWZ missions
  • Contraband Gear - Weapons found in the open world and extracted will typically be considered Contraband. Contraband weapons are lost if you die while they are equipped on you. You'll be able to keep a stash of 20 at any given time.
  • Tacticals and Lethals - Equip your Strike team with an assortment of traditional Call of Duty equipment such as Frag Grenades, Stun Grenades, Molotov Cocktails, and more.

Beyond your equipment, you'll also have access to special Field Upgrades that exist only in MWZ.

MW3 Zombies - Field Upgrades

The Field Upgrades in MWZ are different from the ones you can use in any other Modern Warfare 3 game mode. These upgrades are specific to MWZ, and are focused on keeping the ever-looming zombie threat at bay for you and your friends. There are a total of six MWZ Field Upgrades.

  • Energy Mine - Spawns an explosive mine that deals heavy damage when triggered.
  • Frenzied Guard - Repairs your Armor and taunts nearby enemies for 10 seconds.
  • Healing Aura - Heals all nearby players instantly.
  • Frost Blast - Deals moderate damage and slows enemies within the area of effect.
  • Aether Shroud - Become invisible to all zombie threats.
  • Tesla Storm - Stuns and damages all enemies that come in contact with the lightning connecting to other players. Lasts for 10 seconds.

MW3 Zombies - Acquisitions and Schematics

Crafting is a big part of MWZ that offers huge benefits to players. There are two types of crafts in MWZ: Acquisitions and Schematics.

  • Acquisitions - One-time crafts that you can find and scavenge out in the open world. Their perks depend on their type. No crafting cooldown.
  • Schematics - Permanent crafts you can obtain while out in the open world. When brought back, they can be made indefinitely, but have a cooldown on your ability to craft them.

There are four types of Acquisitions and Schematics.

  • Aetherium - Resource necessary for bolstering the power of your weapons
  • Perk-a-Colas - Replaces the Gear Perk system present in MW3. Drinking a specialized cola will give you special effects like removing scope sway.
  • Ammo Mods - Modifies the type of ammunition fired from your weapons.
    • Brain Rot
    • Cryo Freeze
    • Dead Wire
    • Naplam Burst
    • Shatter Blast
  • Wonder Weapons - Extremely powerful weapons well beyond your standard arsenal.

MWZ looks to be a refreshing take on DMZ combined with the ever-popular Zombies game mode. I am excited about Modern Warfare 3's release, and hopefully, this overview of the incoming MWZ content will make you excited as well.
