Should you get off the elevator or continue to the entrance in Crisis Core FF7?

Riding the elevator is fun but do I get off?

The Shinra Building is under attack, and Lazard just ordered you to hustle down to the Entrance to help fend off the enemy. You hop in the elevator, but suddenly it grinds to a halt! Now you've got a choice: jump off and see what's up, or follow orders and keep heading to the Entrance like Lazard said. So, should you get off the elevator or continue to the entrance in Crisis Core? This guide will break down what happens either way in Final Fantasy 7 Crisis Core.

What Happens if You Get Off the Elevator in Crisis Core?

You should definitely choose to get off the elevator and investigate in Crisis Core. Doing so opens up a short sequence of optional events where you can help people, fight some extra monsters, get rewards like items and Gil, and even work towards a missable trophy. If you choose to continue to the entrance, you'll miss out on all of this side content, but it does not affect the story, so you can continue if you so wish!

Investigating the SOLDIER Floor Stoppage in Crisis Core

When you choose the option to "get off and look around," you'll find yourself back on the SOLDIER floor (Floor 67). It turns out some malfunctioning machines caused a little power outage, stopping the elevator. But hey, since you're here, you can be a hero! There are a few folks in trouble who need saving.

This involves getting into a few fights around the floor:

  • Fight 1: Outside the Elevator: Right after stepping off, you'll likely encounter some enemies. Take care of them!
  • Fight 2: Training Room Rescue: Head over to the Training Room. You'll find some personnel (a couple, it seems) trapped by monsters.
    • After saving them rewards you are rewarded with a nice bonus of 5,000 Gil.
  • Fight 3: Corner Rescue: Somewhere else on the floor, possibly in a corner area, you'll find a 3rd Class SOLDIER who also needs rescuing from attackers.
    • Saving this SOLDIER nets you an Ether for your trouble.

Continuing the Rescues on Loveless Avenue in Crisis Core

Saving everyone on the SOLDIER floor isn't the end of it if you're going for the related trophy! After you've cleared the SOLDIER floor and eventually make your way outside to Loveless Avenue, you'll need to handle two more encounters to complete the set:

  • Fight 4: Right of Entrance: Find and defeat the enemies hanging around the right side of the area.
  • Fight 5: Left of Entrance: Do the same for the enemies on the left side.

Rewards and a Missable Everyone's Hero Trophy in Crisis Core

Why go through all this trouble? Well, besides being a good dude, you get tangible rewards:

  • 5,000 Gil for the Training Room rescue.
  • An Ether for saving the 3rd Class SOLDIER.
  • A Missable Trophy: Successfully completing all five of these rescue encounters (the three on the SOLDIER floor and the two on Loveless Avenue) during the Shinra Building attack sequence will unlock a specific, missable Everyone's Hero trophy.

Heading back to the Entrance in Crisis Core

After you've handled the situation on the SOLDIER floor, Lazard will likely contact you again, urging you to get down to the Entrance. When you do eventually continue downward, be ready for more fights, especially against machine-type enemies. It's a good idea to equip some Lightning-element Materia, as machines are often weak to it, which can make those upcoming battles a lot easier.

Crisis Core is filled with a ton of optional content. Whenever you’re given the option to help out, always take it. You’ll be rewarded! There is no bearing on the game’s ending or anything. For example, when given the opportunity to explore Sector 8, explore it thoroughly.
