The biggest change in Darkest Dungeon 2 was your ability to travel around the world instead of being stuck in the village. Now, you can switch to dungeon adventures while on the move, as DD2 is coming to Nintendo Switch on July 15, 2024.
Darkest Dungeon 2 was announced during the Nintendo Direct event, where we had a chance to see how this grim world looks on a Switch. While the visuals look great, I'm more interested in how commands will work, especially regarding inventory management. I tried playing Darkest Dungeon on Steam Deck, and it was a pain. However, from what we saw, there's no reason to worry, as the Switch port seems to have it all worked out.
As you can see in the image above, you'll quickly get used to commands as you'll always know what button to press. Getting through menus is intuitive, while combat is smooth, as expected, as you'll always have time to think before you act. Darkest Dungeon 2 is truly an ideal game for handheld consoles, as it's easy to get used to playing on the move (or lying in bed).
It's still unknown how much the Nintendo version will be different from the original. We already have multiple quality updates for PC, including The Binding Blade DLC, which introduced the new Duelist class and fan favorite Crusader. I'm especially looking forward to Kingdoms mode, which will be available for free, at least on PC. Let's hope that the Darkest Dungeon 2 Switch version will get all the existing content so we can enjoy creating the best team comps and saving the world once again.
