Beware of vampires in Dead by Daylight Castlevania chapter

Protect your blood, the vampires are here!

Dead by Daylight has decided to make 2024 their year with two new licensed chapters and an original chapter to end it with a bang. This summer will be thrilling, as both DnD and Castlevania are joining the fog.

When will the DBD Castlevania chapter release?

If we go by their Year 9 roadmap, the DBD Castlevania chapter will be released sometime in August, two months after the DnD chapter. Behavior Interactive (BHVR) is committing to a new chapter every two months, along with the 2v8 mode, events, and modifiers. It's a packed schedule, but I'm not complaining.

The teaser is pretty short, so we don't have a lot of details confirmed about the Castlevania chapter. You might think that the chapter will be coming with a new map, considering that we see the castle in the teaser. However, based on the roadmap, this chapter will only come with a Killer and Survivor. You can check out the teaser for yourself below.

We don't know the characters set to join the roster yet, but that doesn't stop the community from discussing all options on the Dead by Daylight subreddit. So far, there seem to be many differing opinions.

There are quite a few options: Simon, Richter, Trevor, etc. Even Sypha is mentioned as a skin, which I would love. With zero hints about the Survivor in the teaser, we can only guess where DBD is going to take the Castlevania chapter. They can follow the example of many DLCs, adding different character skins to their Survivors.

To me, a fun switch would be to make one of the vampires a Survivor and the Belmonts a Killer. This will never happen, but one can only dream of Dracula and his cape swishing behind him as he runs away from the Killer. This would also mean the second non-human Survivor, but as I said, it seems very unlikely to happen.

Vampires are just better suited to the Killer role. They could go a similar route to the Oni who collects blood droplets from the Survivors he hits. I'm excited to see what the actual mechanic turns out to be.
