Dead by Daylight fans think character favoritism for new skins has gone too far

Skins for everyone!

The character roster in Dead by Daylight grows with each new chapter, as well as their outfit collections. However, Behaviour Interactive seems to have a preference for certain characters when it comes to new skins, and fans aren't too happy about it.

When it comes to new outfits, some characters get better skins in larger numbers, and it's been this way since the beginning. Way back when, it was Meg from the Original Four who got the most outfits, though I have to admit quantity did not mean quality in her case (disclaimer: I do love the outfit from the image above).

After Meg, the torch went to Feng Min. As a member of an E-Sports team, it is pretty easy to give her cute gamer girl skins that will appeal to many (me included). But it got annoying pretty fast when she would keep getting skins while others were left out.

These days, Mikaela Reed is in the spotlight as the Survivor who gets the most skins, and people aren't pleased. Her witchy aesthetic really allows for some amazing skins, but there are a bunch of other Survivors that deserve some love.

Claudette is one of the characters who suffer from a lack of skins, and even when she gets them, they are usually pretty lackluster. Even with a cool design, the execution isn't always great. Haddie is another Survivor that can be added to the list of less popular characters who aren't getting new skins. It just seems like there isn't enough love for everyone.

It might not be as obvious, but it's a relatively similar situation on the Killer side as well. While the Skull Merchant is considered one of the worst Killers in the game (and I personally hate playing against her due to the convoluted gameplay), she keeps getting skins. I can't help but think it's due to her relatively humanoid design, which makes her more attractive than other Killers like the Hag or Huntress.

Fans are arguing about why Behaviour seems to prefer giving outfits to only some of the many characters. The reason could be that they are less popular, which means that skins for them aren't profitable. However, it seems that not giving cool skins to characters makes them less popular and keeps us stuck in a loop of Meg/Feng/Mikaela/Skull Merchant/Some future characters only getting skins while the rest get ignored.

With the change in the prestige system came major changes to the Teachable Perk system. Once you prestige a character, their perks will become unlocked for all of your other characters. This is easier compared to how it used to be when you had to unlock the Survivor Perks on each character through the Bloodweb.

Now we can argue that all Survivors are essentially skins once you've unlocked their Perks for everyone. When it comes to Killers, you choose their powers and abilities, while for Survivors, you choose the looks of your character and how loud they scream and move, but that's about it.

When you take that into consideration, it doesn't really make sense to say it's not worth it to give more skins to all characters. If the less popular ones get more outfits, more people will play them. I say that as someone who has the most ridiculous outfit combination on Steve, but I enjoy the fact that I have the option to make it ridiculous.
