Best Strand Build for Hunters in Destiny 2

Class fantasies are becoming more of a reality with Destiny 2 Lightfall. Strand, in particular, has allowed players to branch out and craft entirely new builds for a more diverse way of play. Hunters now have the power to zip around and ensnare their foes before unleashing green hell upon them. This is our personal favorite build to do just that.

Lightfall Strand Hunter Build

This build is all about utilizing the speed and mobility of the hunter. Flips, dodges, and flying around with grapple before coming crashing down are the hallmarks of this build. Throw in plenty of abilities to suspend enemies and dancing around them becomes that much easier.

Strand Abilities

• Silkstrike: Weave a vicious rope dart and tear through your targets.
  • Swing the rope dart in front of you to deal damage. The tip of the dart deals bonus damage, and defeating targets with the tip causes them to explode.
  • Swing the rope dart in a circular motion to deal heavy damage all around you.
• Marksman's Dodge: Dodge to perform an evasive maneuver with a steady hand. Dodging automatically reloads your weapon.
• Threaded Spike: Throw a rope dart that bounces between targets, damaging and severing them. The dart will return to you once it's done, returning melee energy to you for each target hit. Catch the dark just as it gets back to you to increase the amount of energy returned.
• Grapple: Weave a grappling hook, and quickly pull yourself forward. Grappling to a Tangle immediately recharges your grenade energy. During and shortly after grappling, your melee attack deals area damage and unravels targets.

Strand Aspects

• Widow's Silk: You have an additional grenade charge. Your grapple creates a Grapple Tangle at the grapple point.
• Ensnaring Slam: Activate your air move to consume your class ability energy and dive to the ground, suspending all nearby targets on impact. Using this ability extends class ability cooldown time.

Strand Fragments

• Thread of Fury: Damaging targets with a Tangle grants melee energy. (-10 Strength)
• Thread of Propagation: Powered melee final blows grant your Strand weapons Unraveling Rounds.
• Thread of Binding: Super final blows emit a suspending burst from the target. (+10 Resilience)
• Thread of Continuity: Suspend, unravel, and sever effects applied to targets have increased duration. (+10 Strength)

Weapons

• Quicksilver Storm with Catalyst: This weapon's damage type becomes Strand. Final blows with grenades from this weapon create Tangles.
• Any Fusion Rifle or Shotgun fits the bill here
• Circular Logic

Armor & Mods

The first rule of putting together a build in Destiny 2 is to protect yourself! It's always advisable to get your Resilience up to 100 as everything in Lightfall hits like a runaway train. As such, while these are our recommended mods, there is some leeway as that Resilience buff is critical.

• Speedloader Slacks: Dodging boosts reload speed, handling, and airborne effectiveness for you and nearby allies. While the buff is active, final blows and additional dodges increase the buff strength and refresh the timer. Maxes out at five stacks.
