Changes coming to Destiny 2’s reputation system with The Witch Queen

A less tedious grind.

Grinding is a staple of Destiny 2, and it doesn't try to hide it. It's clear that if you want the best gear possible, you will have to put in the hours. However, even in a game filled with variety like Destiny, grinding can become very tedious and cause you to burn out on the game quickly. Luckily, with the launch of The Witch Queen, grinding will become far easier due to the changes being made to the reputation system.

Starting in Season 16 with The Witch Queen, players will earn vanguard reputation twice as fast and even faster when on a streak. This will help players to level up their Vanguard reputation without having to grind Strikes for hours on end. Nightfall Strikes have also gotten a few changes to help, as they will now award better reputation multipliers and completion bonuses.

The Trials of Osiris are also getting a few reputation changes with The Witch Queen. To make Trials of Osiris more inclusive, players will now be given a reputation boost based on how many rounds players have won in a particular match. This will help make the losses feel better as you may still be able to earn something and motivate teams to continue trying even when they are losing.

As far as the reputation system for Crucible and Gambit goes, there will not be any changes made with the launch of Season 16. Bungie has stated they are largely happy with how the reputation works with the Crucible and feels as though it does not need changes at this time. They have acknowledged that Gambit rank-ups are slower than they want. However, with the Gambit rework that is coming in The Witch Queen, they want to hold off to see if that helps with the reputation system before making changes.

So there you have it, those are all of the changes coming to Destiny 2's reputation systems with The Witch Queen. Hopefully, these changes will help to respect the player's time and make Destiny's grind feel much more bearable.
