Destiny 2 Mothkeeper’s Wraps – Build, Perks, and How To Get

I love being a Hunter.

Season 22 of Destiny 2 brought to the fray three new exotic armors, one for each class. Among these, I was most excited about the Mothkeeper's Wraps, as Hunter is my favorite class.

However, this exotic armor has a lot more up its sleeve—namely, swarms of Moths. This Hunter exotic armor turns your grenades into Moth Grenades, which can damage enemies while also shielding you and your allies. In this guide, I will go through how the Mothkeeper's Wraps work, how to obtain it, and the best build for it in Destiny 2.

How to get Mothkeeper's Wraps in Destiny 2

Since it is an Exotic gear, the Mothkeeper's Wraps can only be obtained in Destiny 2 by two means: Legend or Master Lost Sectors or Vex Strike Force public events in the Vex Incursion Zones in Neomuna. Completing Lost Sectors to get the Mothkeeper's Wraps can be a tedious process, as players might need to wait a long time until Arms Armor gear is in the rotation.

The best method to get Mothkeeper's Wraps, or any exotic gear that you do not currently own, is to complete Vex Incursion Zones in Neomuna. During these public events, the Vex may summon the elite Vex Strike Force, defeating who will give players a guaranteed exotic.

All Mothkeeper's Wraps Perks and how they work in Destiny 2

The Mothkeeper's Wraps comes with the Exotic Perk called Winged Eclipse. This perk turns your grenades into swarms of moths that are released upon impact. The moths that are released from grenade explosions come in two forms: Arc Moths and Void Moths. Once released, these moths automatically track and target enemies or allies. Arc Moths target enemies, dealing explosive damage and blinding them, whereas Void Moths target allies to give them a void overshield.

The type of Moth that spawns from explosions is situational. When there are no enemies nearby, the explosion will create two Void Moths for you and your allies. When you and your allies' HP is full, and there are enemies around, the explosion will create two Arc Moths that target the enemies. Finally, if your HP is low and there are enemies around, the explosion may create one Void Moth and one Arc Moth.

Best build for Mothkeeper's Wraps in Destiny 2

The Mothkeeper's Wraps synergize greatly with the Threadrunner hunter sub-class and the exotic grenade launcher Ex Diris. Using this sub-class, we can use Aspects like Whirling Maelstrom to create strand fibers that seek out and damage enemies and Widow's Silk for an extra grenade charge. Pairing this with Thread of Warding and Thread of Transmutation ensures a non-stop creation of Tangles, which, when destroyed by you or by the Moths, will create a Whirling Maelstrom.

With that said, the following is the best build to use with Mothkeeper's Wraps in Destiny 2:

  • Stats: Recovery and Discipline
    • Increased health regeneration and decreased grenade cooldowns.
  • Mods:
    • Absolution (Leg slot) - Reduces all ability cooldowns upon picking up an Orb of Power.
    • Powerful Attraction (Class Item slot) - Collect all Orbs of Power in a certain radius while using your class ability.
    • Arc Siphon (Helmet slot) - Getting multi-kills with arc weapons generates Orbs of Power.
    • Grenade Kickstart (Arm slot) - Grants increased grenade energy.
    • Reaper (Class Item slot) - Final blows after using a class ability spawn Orbs of Power.
  • Aspects: Widow's Silk and Whirling Maelstrom.
  • Fragments: Thread of Transmutation and Thread of Warding
  • Weapons: Ex Diris (Grenade Launcher)
