One of the biggest additions coming to Destiny 2 with the launch of The Witch Queen is Weapon Crafting. Players have been asking for a way to create custom weapons for just about as long as the game has been out. Finally, Bungie has heard the community's cries and implemented them with their newest expansion. Here is how Weapon Crafting will work in Destiny 2: The With Queen.
Beginning the crafting
Early in The Witch Queen expansion, you will be introduced to the Enclave. This will be the anvil in which you craft these weapons. In a quest to craft your first Glaive, you will learn the ins and outs of the Enclave. While you will be given all the materials needed to craft the Glaive, you will receive a short tutorial on where these materials can be gathered for future weapon crafting. Only a few weapons and archetypes will be craftable from the start, but more will be added in the future.Â
As suspected, it's not just as simple as inputting the materials and getting a new weapon. It will start by finding a Pattern for a weapon. These Patterns can be found as rewards for certain quests and completing various gameplay objectives. Once a Pattern has been earned, players will be able to gather the necessary materials and craft the weapon.
Leveling the weapon
Once your weapon is crafted, players can level it up by using it to defeat enemies and complete activities. Bungie says that this is where the bulk of the crafting process will be, as leveling it up is when you unlock its full potential. Enhanced stats and traits can be unlocked when reaching higher levels, granting slight bonuses to your weapons capabilities.
Bungie said they hope this allows players to invest more into their weapons and allow players to get the most out of weapon crafting. However, they also know that making decisions about building your weapon can be intimidating. That is why they have given players the ability to reshape their weapons to mix up the components after they have finished crafting them.

Mementos and Exotic crafting
There will also be chances for appearance customization with things called mementos. These can be earned through things like Gambit, Trials of Osiris, and Grandmaster Nightfalls. Mementos will give a weapon a themed appearance and tracker. Once a weapon is leveled up, memetos that have been earned can be equipped onto them to add some flair.
A few exotic weapons will also be able to be crafted at the Enclave. Things like the new Osteo Striga SMG and Class-specific Glaives will be able to be crafted once their pattern is found. However, Exotic crafting will be slightly more restricted to preserve the weapon's identity. Crafting an Exotic weapon is more about fine-tuning the weapon to your likings, such as adding more range or more hip-fire damage.
The Enclave opens up a whole myriad of possibilities for weapon builds, and we love that you'll have to get intimate with a weapon to build it in your vision.
