How to get all Zero Hour upgrades and catalysts in Destiny 2

Outbreak Perfected - some would say it's a very accurate name for such a great gun in Destiny 2. With the re-release of Zero Hour, there's bunch of new Intrinsic upgrades and Catalysts that can be crafted onto this beauty too! Here's the low down on what's available and how you can find them.

How do I upgrade Outbreak Perfected in Zero Hour?

After clearing Zero Hour for the first time, you'll gain access to two types of puzzles that offer different upgrades for your own crafted Outbreak Perfected.

The three vault puzzles found in both versions of Zero Hour will reward you with Intrinsic upgrades- which unlock new stats, barrels, mags, and stock perks on Outbreak itself, and grant progress to unlocking an exotic ship. Neat!

Certain steps of the Outbreak Refined questline will grant new Catalyst perks that replace Outlaw on Outbreak Perfected. Here, we'll go over how to get both of those done for each set of upgrades as they release over a course of three weeks.

Zero Hour Vault Puzzles Guide - Destiny 2

Every Vault Puzzle has two steps to follow. For the first step, you have to find an interactable panel hidden in Zero Hour itself. Activating this panel will start a timer called Temporary Clearance Granted. Once you do this, you'll have about one minute to shoot three special targets that can only be shot with Outbreak Perfected. The panel will display a symbol matching each of the targets, which is basically telling you which targets have to be shot in the right order. Once you do this, the game will give a message saying "Sequence accepted."

From there, you have to reach the Tower Vaults, which are found just after the floor tile puzzle towards the end of the mission. Because you cleared the first step, you should have access to a bunch of switches in the room. The switches have to be activated in a certain order to unlock the vaults. There's also a monitor displaying a map and cipher for each vault found at the left side of the room, marking each vault with its own column. Look at the column that's connected to your chosen panel, and read from top to bottom. The order of arrows and their colors will tell you the order of switches to activate. If you're in a rush, we have some guide maps showing each puzzle's order down below.

The first panel can be found in the second combat encounter, taking place in the old Tower Courtyard from Destiny 1. Once you crawl out through the tunnel at the entrance, turn around and hop up to the blue roof — the panel will be on a pillar on that roof. You'll be able to spot the panel by the SiVA symbol flashing on the screen. Once you activate the timer, three targets will spawn around the Courtyard. They can be found at:

Once you complete this step, you'll have to solve the vault puzzle for Week 1. It'll be marked on the monitor by the Square column next to the displayed map. Here's a map to show the solved order of switches to activate:

Once you complete the switch sequence, you'll be immediately rewarded with your first Intrinsic upgrade for Outbreak Perfected.

The panel for the second Vault puzzle is located in the second hangar you drop down to early on in the mission. It's hidden in an open vent located behind the white jumpship at the lowest floor. Just like Week 1, three panels will then spawn, located at:

1. To the right of the panel, in a corner by a yellow staircase.

2. On the second floor, behind another stair case in the middle of the room.

Second verse, same as the first. Get to the vaults at the end of the mission, and activate the correct set of switches. The second set will go off the middle column found on the monitor, marked by a Diamond.

Outbreak Refined Walkthrough - How to get the Week 1 Catalyst for Zero Hour in Destiny 2

After you clear Zero Hour for the first time, Ada-1 will offer a quest called Outbreak Refined. Through this quest, you'll have to complete a mix of simple and admittedly tough steps that will reward you with new catalyst perks for this beautiful rifle.

The first step of this quest will have you go out to the Cosmodrome and gather Inert SiVA Clusters from killing Fallen. This step is easy enough, and self-explanatory. The real trick is the step after this part.

After gathering your clusters, you'll be asked to activate a pair of "Catalyst Switches" in Zero Hour on Legend difficulty. Activating one will activate a timer to hit the other, so you have to be quick about this part. It might sound pretty tough on paper, considering all the confusing halls and vents you have to twist and turn through, but this is thankfully super easy! The switches appear to be always set on the main path forward — it's just a matter of surviving an exotic mission on Legend difficulty with a 20 minute timer.

The first switch is found in the room with four sets of pipes, on the wall next to the catwalk in the middle.

The second switch is located to the left a room just after this portion, where you jump across an aqueduct and up the correct pipeline.

For this set of switches, I highly recommend activating these two in a backwards order. Start with the second switch up the pipe, then drop down and activate the first switch. This is much faster and generally easier to do than just climbing up from the first to the second.

After this, your quest will update to require a Zero Hour clear on Legend difficulty. You'll already be halfway done by this point, but being offered a chance for extra attempts is always welcome. Completing this step will reward you with the Rapid Hit refit for Outbreak Perfected.

How to get the Week 2 Catalyst for Zero Hour in Destiny 2

The Week 2 set of steps for Outbreak Refined will be the same as before. Do another easy step for Ada-1, then its back to Legend Zero Hour.

The first portion will have you gather Inert SiVA Clusters from killing Fallen in the Exodus Garden 2A Lost Sector. After this, it's back to the vents.

The first switch can be found in the long, thin hallway with ledges on the side, inside the first alcove on the right.

The second switch is located close by, just after that long hall. Drop into the next corridor, and you'll find it hidden off to the left.

This one is much easier than before; just activate the first switch and rush to the second. If you want, you can clear out the hall first, open up the safety platforms, and then hit both switches. After that, you just have to clear Zero Hour on Legend once again. Go back to Ada-1, and you'll get the Rewind Rounds refit. I highly recommend rushing for this catalyst ASAP if you want to use Outbreak for endgame PvE activities, as this perk absolutely rocks.

Outbreak is a truly perfect gun with some perfect upgrades. For all the trouble you have to go through to kit it out, it's a very worthy investment for any player. And with the final stages of Pantheon falling upon us, it just might be the thing to help some raid teams get the job done. Best of luck, Guardians!
