Some weapons are absolutely worth the effort of completing a bunch of extra quests, and Khvostov is one of them. Check out how to get both the legendary and exotic Khvostov 7G-0X auto rifle in Destiny 2 below.
All Lost Encryption Bits Locations
To start off your journey of getting both the legendary and exotic Khvostov 7G-0X auro rifle in Destiny 2, you need to find all of the Region chests. These will contain the first nine Lost Encryption Bits.
To get six more Lost Encryption Bits, you have to go to the Cyst activities. To unlock all six, you have to complete the 'Alone in the Dark' quest by Micah six times. You will only see three Cyst markers on the map, but you can access all of them. There are bird switches nearby that let you change between one of two Cysts at a location.
Sword Dance Cyst Location
When you reach the second area of the Cyst, head to the edge and drop down. You'll see an opening in the wall of the cave. Go through it, and your path will be blocked by a barrier. Break through the barrier, and the Lost Encryption Bit will be in the pile on the floor.
Searing Light Cyst Location
Defeating the Searing Light Cyst at the start will reveal another path. Go through the hole and past the cube on the ground down the left path. You will see the pile on the floor at the end of it.
Aerial Ace
When you defeat the Cyst, head back to the entrance, and you'll see a new path revealed. Just as you jump across, there will be a small opening in the wall to the right. The pile is right through there, along with your Lost Encryption Bit.
Moth Infested Tavern Cyst Location
Head towards the area where you fight the Ogre. Jump down beneath the platform where the Ogre is standing, and you'll see a hole in the wall to the left. Crouch through to find another pile.
Slayer Cyst Location
Complete the Slayer Cyst and a new path will be revealed in the starting area. Head to the right and keep going until you see a stone pillar in the middle. The pile you need to search for the Lost Encryption Bit is right behind it.
Smothering Darkness Cyst Location
After clearing the Cyst, start with the big purple crystal on the ceiling. Fall down to the path below and keep going until you reach the last Lost Encryption Bit on the floor to the right.
Getting the legendary Khvostov 7G-0X
Once you have collected all 15 Lost Encryption Bits, they will combine into a Lost Encryption Code. When you have it, head to the Impasse.
Go across the road to the tunnel. Enter through the door to the left and head up the stairs. Get across the walkway and up another set of stairs until you reach a case. You'll get the legendary Khvostov 7G-0X from this case. However, if you want to find the exotic version as well, keep going.
How to get Motes of Light
There are two ways you can get Motes of Light: by collecting Visions of the Traveler and by defeating bosses in the three Overthrown zones.
When it comes to the bosses in Overthrown zones, they all drop one Mote of Light. Even if you respawn them, they won't drop anymore, so you have to defeat all bosses. Once you get the last one, you'll get the Mote of Primordial Light, which you will use to unlock the exotic Khvostov 7G-0X.
All Visions of Traveler collectible locations
There is a total of eight Visions of the Traveler collectibles. They are well hidden and pretty easy to miss if you aren't exploring every nook and cranny because you have a strong fear of missing out like I do. Finding all of them is also one of the steps to obtaining the exotic Khvostov rifle if you need an extra boost to go collect Visions.
The Lost City
The first Vision of Traveler can be found in the Lost City area. Keep going until you see the waterfall. Jump across, and you will find it in the grass to the right.
The Landing
Once you get to The Landing, turn left and jump off the cliff. You'll see the Vision of the Traveler tucked in at the bottom next to the waterfall.
The Refraction
Head back up the cliff and towards the Refraction area. Once you enter through the stone gate, head immediately to the left and hug the wall. The path will branch into two, and you should go down the left one.
Keep going, and you'll reach another branching of the path. Stick to the left again. When you get to the next area, fall down and head to the right until you see a light coming in from a doorway. Go through and head to the left until you reach a small hole in the ground. Drop down and head towards another beam of light through a door.
Once you are back outside again, jump from the cliff to the left and make your way down. You will find the Vision of the Traveler in a nook at the bottom of the cliff in the water.
The Blooming
In The Blooming, head down the left path until you encounter a large gnarled tree against the side of a cliff. Climb up it, and you'll find a Vision near the top.
The Seclusion
For the Vision of Traveler, you need to have activated the Slayer Cyst. Head through the area until you see the closed off path with the runes. You need to shoot the matching runes on the walls above you. Once you do that, head down the path, and you'll encounter an Ogre. You have to defeat it before a new path opens up.
When you see a stone pillar in the middle of the path, look up and to the left, and you'll find a hole to climb up to. The Vision of the Traveler is at the end of the path.
The Divide
To reach the Vision in the Divide, first go into the caves at the end of the path. You will be heading through the cave system for a while.
Once you reach the snowy section, it is a long trek up. It's a pretty straightforward path up to the top until you reach a snowed-in facility. The Vision is behind the boxes to the left.
The Impasse
In the Impasse area of Destiny 2 The Final Shape, you will find the Vision of Traveler as part of an ornament on a structure. Climb up the stairs to reach and pick it up.
The Transgression
Start heading down the path past the Smothering Darkness Cyst. Keep going across the area before you reach a cave.
Going through the cave, you'll reach a structure that you need to climb up. After you climb, turn to the right and jump across the path.
When you see a red light between the trees, you've reached the section. The Vision of Traveler is behind the tree on the left.
How to get exotic Khvostov 7G-0X
Once you have gotten all of the Motes of Light (along with the Visions of the Traveler), you need to find the exotic Khvostov 7G-0X chest. First, head to the Lost City. Go to the left and enter the Tower. You'll get to the section with eight poles.
Place the Visions of Traveler on them, and a chest will appear. To unlock it, you will use your collected Motes of Light. With that, you'll get the exotic Khvostov 7G-0X. Enjoy!
