What's new in Destiny 2: Into the Light?

The most significant feature to anticipate in Destiny 2: Into the Light is the new activity called Onslaught. In this activity, you will defend the Advance Defense Unit (ADU) from incoming attacks by repairing it with batteries dropped from enemy units and upgrading your defenses using scraps.

This three-player activity takes place in the Last City, with Lord Shaxx assuming the role of the vendor. The Onslaught emphasizes on the defense-building aspect of the update, as each player gets the same amount of scraps per wave but can spend them on defenses individually.

The playlist version of the Onslaught will feature up to 10 waves, while the challenge version will include up to 50 waves, with a possibility of a Legendary mode with limit revivals being added as well. While battling on a somewhat modified Onslaught Midtown map from the Crucible, every 10 waves starting from the sixth, players encounter a wave on the Pyramid Ship, drawing inspiration from other maps in Destiny 2.

Enemy factions will swap between the Fallen and Hive. Players also have the opportunity to complete side quests and boss fights to earn additional rewards, such as ammunition and other resources that enhance defense. Into the Light is also bringing the Midnight Coup legendary Hand Cannon back to Destiny 2.

These changes represent a significant portion of all the new features. However, there are many more additions to come in Destiny 2 with Into the Light, which we will learn about as the livestreams reveal more information.
