Just like in previous Diablo titles, Legendary and Unique items in Diablo 4 provide the largest boosts to your stats and ultimately play a significant role in defining your build. During the endgame, they are the most important gear drops you can get, and can make the process of running higher Nightmare Dungeons much easier. The question though is how do you farm them? What is the best way to get your hands on them? If these are the questions you're asking, then you've come to the right guide, reader. Allow me to enlighten you on the best possible way to farm Legendary and Unique items in Diablo 4.
Best way to farm Unique and Legendary items in Diablo IV
The first thing you're going to want to do is to get to World Tier 4. Item drops there are the strongest in the game, and that includes Uniques and Legendaries. Additionally, the drop rates for these items are much higher in World Tier 4 than they are in World Tier 3. Speaking of drop rates, Elites, enemies with affixes that provide them buffs and have significantly more health than your average demon, have a massively higher chance of dropping Legendary and Unique items. So, to farm them, you're going to want to kill as many Elites as possible.
This can be done in the open world, in normal dungeons, or even in Nightmare Dungeons. Nightmare Dungeons provide a higher chance for them overall, despite being more difficult, because they tend to spawn a lot more Elites than anywhere else in the entire game. More Elites to kill means more chances at the rarest loot. Caches from the Tree of Whispers also have a high chance to drop at least one Legendary item, with a chance for a Unique on the side.
Beyond the above-mentioned methods, I cannot recommend doing anything else if your goal is to get your hands on Legendaries and Uniques as quickly as possible. Non-elite enemies have a low chance to drop both rare item types, but I would not count on it happening often.
