What is Leadership in Disciples: Liberation – What does it do

More units or better units?

Leadership in Disciples: Liberation is an essential mechanic to learn. Basically, leadership is how many units you can take into battle with you. Every unit has a specific amount of leadership, and it all adds up.

At level six, your leadership value is 40. This means you can have four units that cost ten leadership with you on the battlefield. You cannot exceed your leadership capacity. Your companions or Backline units don't cost any leadership at all, but you are limited to how many of them you are allowed.

  • Companions—Three
  • Backline Units—Three

You don't earn leadership every single level up. Instead, it increases at specific increments of levels. This is typically every five levels gained. So the more leadership you have, the more units you can take with you into battle.

But as your get more advanced tiers of units, the leadership costs will increase. You can either have an entire army with you, but who are overall weaker. Or bring in a small army, but each unit is powerful. The choice is yours. Remember, always swap out your Backline units for better ones if their Backline ability is excellent!
